A 30-year-old homeless Indian woman, Priti Devi, was found crying by the side of the road and reported to volunteers from a charity. People were horrified to see that the woman's scalp was swarming with fly larvae, eating the tissue. The Daily Mail reports.
According to the homeless woman, she was once attacked by a group of people and injured her head. After that, flies flew onto the wound and laid eggs, from which larvae hatched. Almost the entire surface of the woman's scalp was covered with holes eaten by the larvae. The woman could not cope with them on her own.
According to Priti Devi, she became homeless six months before she was found. She fled from her home in Bihar for unnamed reasons. It took the volunteers five months of careful care and wound care to heal this woman.
The woman is now fully recovered. She calls the volunteers angels and says that if it weren't for them, she would have died on the side of the road. During the treatment, the volunteers fed the woman and gave her clean clothes. Now Priti Devi wants to start a new life.
