Tourists consider this cave one of the scariest places on the planet.

In the Khakass language, it sounds like khoskhulakh, it is located on the territory of Khakassia in the northern regions of the Kuznetsk Alatau.

The cave is three-tiered with deep wells serving as transitions between tiers. The very names of the grottoes of the upper tier terrify impressionable tourists. There is a grotto "Temple". And also the place, which is called "The Lost Pagoda". And a completely unattractive name for the grotto is "Obscurantism". The Skeletons grotto is located in the middle tier, and there is also a grotto with the optimistic name “Enthusiasts”, probably in honor of those travelers who dared to explore all corners of the cave. To get to its base, you need to descend to a depth of fifty meters. And to go along all the passages, you have to overcome almost eight hundred meters.

There are many terrible rumors about the cave. Locals said that in the fifties of the last century, a group of curious students descended into a cave, from which young people rose to the surface gray, and subsequently many of them were sick. There was even talk that some travelers never returned from the cave.

By the beginning of the 2000s, the Kashkulak cave with horror stories passed from mouth to mouth became a place for excursions. Even those who trembled with fear descended here, but longed to see with their own eyes all the horror of the underworld. One of the videographers shared his impression: “When I got out of the cave, I felt someone pulling back down. Turning around, I saw the silhouette of an ancient shaman."

Perhaps this vision was just a hallucination. By the way, some tourists note that they feel some kind of energetic influence in this cave, as if something is pressing on them.

Having decided to visit the Kashkulak cave, daredevils should be ready to see immediately at the entrance a picture that terrifies impressionable people: a fireplace, the remains of animals, at the sight of which they no longer want to move on.

However, there is an explanation for the terrible place: for almost two thousand years, shamans performed their rituals here. Animals, as a rule, were sacrificed, hence the remains of bones and a fireplace. In the Temple grotto, the sacrifices were carried out, there is a stalagmite, around which there were sacrificial dances.

In general, scientists began to explore the cave at the beginning of the last century. Archaeologists continued their research in the 60s and 70s. No anomalous zones have been identified. The underground world of the cave itself is interesting and still mysterious. And the feeling by people of the presence of some supernatural power, perhaps, can be explained by the fact that for many centuries this place was a cult place, possibly retaining its own special energy.
