Biologists from the US National Institute of Environmental Health conducted a study on laboratory mice and rats.
Scientists irradiated the rodents with the same radio waves that emanate from mobile phones and saw that this radiation provoked the appearance of many cancerous tumors in animals.
The experiment was carried out by the National Toxicology Program group led by John Bucher and this is their second experiment on the same topic. The first was carried out two years ago, when rats were the test subjects. The radiation caused them to grow malignant tumors in the brain and benign tumors in the heart.
The results of this experiment, which hit the media, caused a lot of indignation and a stream of criticism from other scientists who called it all exaggerated and deliberately frightening. Also in the experiment itself, many oddities were found. For example, irradiated mice lived longer than normal ones.
But shortly after the first experiment, Bacher and his team began a second and extended experiment.
They took two hundred laboratory mice and rats, initially predisposed to cancer. Some were left for the control group, and the rest were placed in one cage, which was exposed to radio waves, but divided into several groups. Each group received different doses of radio waves, ranging from the maximum allowable for mobile phones and ending with levels exceeding this indicator by about 3-4 times.
Some of the mice and rats lived in such conditions for only a month, and some for two years.

Irradiation of mice and rats with 900 and 1,900 megahertz radio waves clearly demonstrated that these forms of radiation, encoded in a 'mobile format', have carcinogenic activity, 'says Bacher and his colleagues.
According to them, as a result of exposure to radio waves in the body of mice and rats, significantly more tumors appeared than in the control group, which was especially characteristic of the heart, brain and liver.
At the same time, irradiated mice and rats, as in the first experiment, lived longer than usual. And this oddity could not be explained in any way. The number of tumors in exposed subjects also did not increase with increasing radiation dose, which was also an unexpected discovery.
Anticipating a new wave of criticism, Bacher declares that they in no way compare the effect of mobile phones and their analogs on mice and humans, since in experiments the entire body of a mouse or rat was exposed to radiation, while a person usually applies the phone only to ear.
Further, the National Toxicology Program group plans to conduct another series of experiments. This time they will try to track how the accumulation of mutations in rodent DNA occurs and how this leads to the development of cancer.
