Polish citizen Nadine Wojczyk has written a book "Where the Devil Lives", which is dedicated to various ways of driving out demons in her country. Wojczyk writes that in recent years there have been more and more exorcist priests in Poland. At the moment, there are 130 of them. Such ministers of the church do not undergo special training, the writer said in an interview with Deutsche Welle.

According to Wojczyk, it is not surprising that a stronghold of Catholicism like Poland has become the place of "the most intense attention to demons."

“Exorcists claim that the devil dwells where faith is strongest,” the author writes. That is why the rituals for driving out demons are so popular in the country, Voichik believes.

“The exorcists are usually ordinary priests. Some of them, however, were officially blessed for this activity by the bishop. As a rule, respected and experienced ministers of the church are appointed as exorcists,”the writer notes.

The main task of the modern exorcist is to make sure that this or that person is really possessed by the devil, and does not suffer, for example, from mental illness. This is a serious problem, as many Poles find it easier to admit that they are possessed by the devil than abnormal. Therefore, many "besogons" work in close cooperation with psychiatrists.

Nadine Wojczyk notes that many exorcists manage to "unmistakably" distinguish one case from another, but it is not known how this is done.

The first official guide to exorcism was published by the Vatican in 1614. Until 1999, when the reform was adopted, this ritual consisted of prayers, blessings, psalms and the reading of the Gospel texts. Today, it consists in the blessing of the priest, who asks the evil spirits to leave. Only an exorcist priest has the right to utter these words.
