The new year brought us new surprises and hopes for discovering ancient civilizations that may have built complex cities at the South Pole. We already talked about the discovery of pyramids in Antarctica last month, but January 2017 brings new surprises.
Mysterious find
The website Ancient Code posted a photo of the mysterious oval-shaped structure. The idea was also put forward that this formation may be of anthropogenic origin, and perhaps even testifies to the existence of an ancient civilization in Antarctica.
The structure in question is 120 meters in diameter and is located in East Antarctica. The site says it "resembles something that could easily be developed by someone."
It is possible that in the distant past, the Earth - and, in particular, Antarctica - was very different from what we see today. Therefore, a developed ancient civilization could exist at the South Pole, whose representatives created fascinating structures, monuments and temples. Will we ever find evidence for this theory?

Could ancient civilizations survive in Antarctica?
The problem is that there have never been favorable conditions for human life in Antarctica. This continent was covered with ice long before Homo sapiens evolved. The conditions on this frozen continent are inhospitable to humans, which is why modern scientists (and occasionally tourists) use the best technology to stay safe.
Antarctica has been completely covered in ice for 15 million years, although conditions became unsuitable for human life as early as 23 million years ago (if humans existed then).
Of course, there are still many mysteries in our past, and humans have always been brilliant at finding solutions, so archeology is a marvelous and often amazing science. But extraordinary claims require the same proof.
What problems are worth solving
Yes, you can look at satellite maps and believe all these things, but there are questions that need to be addressed. If the oval structure found was created by an ancient civilization, how could it have built it? Mining in the frozen desert is not easy. How could representatives of this possible civilization keep this place warm? There are no trees in Antarctica to burn, and the penguin bonfire is hardly very effective. And the most important thing! Why was this ancient civilization building in Antarctica, far from natural resources, in the most extreme conditions on Earth?
If we can find reasonable answers to these questions, then we can talk about ancient civilizations. Until then, such finds should be considered only strange geological structures.
