Futurologist, professor of physics, co-author of string theory and popularizer of science Michio Kaku spoke at the SPIEF forum about the future of humanity. Hi-Tech is posting a summary of his performance.
- In medicine, we fight not only with diseases, but also improve, bring the human body to perfection and isolate genes that are responsible for the aging process. We have already isolated about 60 genes that are responsible for the aging process, which is still irreversible, but I believe that by 2100 we will be able to achieve not only digital, but also biological immortality. We will be able to revive the disappeared creatures that were on Earth tens of thousands of years ago. We already have the mammoth and Neanderthal genomes.
- Three factors shaping the future are artificial intelligence, biotechnology and nanotechnology. In general, they will work for the growth of wealth and prosperity.
- Artificial intelligence, it seems to me, will form an industry larger than the current automotive industry. The car itself will become a robot. The danger is that robots will become aware of themselves someday.
“We will have solar energy that is cheaper than fossil energy due to revolutionary developments in energy storage technologies. It is assumed that by the middle of the century, the first thermonuclear reactor will appear.
- Any technology is a double-edged sword. It can be used against disease, illiteracy, poverty - and against people. Therefore, we need to make sure that we are in control of these powerful technologies.
- By the end of the century, it will be necessary to build a chip in robots that turns them off if they want to kill a person, such a safety device. When the robots are smart enough to disable this device, we will need to merge with them. I don’t think it will happen in this century, but it’s quite possible in the next. Instead of fighting them, you can become supermen.
- The key to everything is education, we must educate people in such a way that societies do not split into small groups at war with each other.
