Much has been written about the mystical aspects of the Great October Socialist Revolution. But almost no one in our country knows that before Stalin's final coming to power and the beginning of the era of repression, members of the Soviet government received a warning about the impending failure of the attempt to build socialism in our country. The failure was primarily attributed to the violent, directive methods used by the Soviet government in state building.

It was not just anyone who dared to convey such a warning to the Kremlin strategists, but … the spiritual Teachers of the legendary Shambhala! Not everyone believes in the real existence of Shambhala, and the very fact of such a warning seems unreal, fantastic. But nonetheless…

In 1926, the outstanding Russian artist N. K. Roerich. He arrived in transit, making a long-term trans-Himalayan expedition, the route of which the Roerichs laid through Altai, possibly, specifically in order to call in Moscow. The artist met with members of the Soviet government and handed them the so-called "Message of the Mahatmas" (as the Teachers of Shambhala are called in India) and a chest with Himalayan soil to be laid "on the grave of our brother, Mahatma Lenin."

This mysterious arrival of Roerich to Moscow still haunts many publicists and journalists, including those from among the paparazzi. As soon as the latter do not interpret this fact! They write that Roerich was an agent of the NKVD and came on his "agent affairs", or even more trenchant - he allegedly wanted to organize in Siberia some kind of mythical state on the principles of Buddhist philosophy …

So what really happened?

The main mission of the Roerichs was, of course, by no means handing over the letter and not handing over the casket with Himalayan land to the Kremlin leaders. The letter was a kind of diplomatic cover, evidence that the Roerichs and their spiritual Teachers, in principle, sympathize with the idea of building a just social system in “one separate country” … But the main thing was said not in the letter, but in Roerich's personal conversations with members of the Soviet government. The topic of these conversations concerned the most important issue at that moment for the history of our country - the choice of the correct forms and methods of building a just social system. Together with the letter, Mahatma Roerich brought to Moscow the manuscript of the book "Community", the authors of which were all the same Mahatmas (later this work was included in a series of books that made up the teaching of Living Ethics, or Agni Yoga). This book expounded the point of view of the spiritual Teachers of the East on what a truly socially just state should be. And most importantly, the "Community" contained a warning against attempts to build socialism by wrong, directive-force methods, leading not to the true, but to the barracks socialism, which we received as a result. The book "Community" became a real prophecy of distant Indian sages about our future.

N. K. Roerich hoped to publish this manuscript in Russia, thereby making the sent warning available to the largest possible number of politicians, scientists, public figures and simply thinking people, on whom the future of the country could depend. Of course, the philosopher did not expect that the members of the government with whom he intended to meet would find the time and desire to familiarize themselves with the text of the book he had brought. He expounded the meaning of the "Community" as the main message of the Mahatmas in personal conversations with the Kremlin leaders.

Roerich spoke about the centuries-old experience of implementing the idea of community in practice, the experience that the spiritual Teachers of the East possessed. He spoke about the basic principles of a truly humanistic society, about the fact that a true community should not be based on the order forcibly approved by the state, but on the high spiritual and moral level of each of its members. Roerich also spoke about those warnings against the wrong, forcible building of socialism, which the spiritual Teachers of India and Tibet conveyed to the Soviet government. However, the warning was not heard and understood. Hearing Roerich's words about the spiritual and moral prerequisites for the construction of socialism, People's Commissar Chicherin subsequently called him "a semi-communist, semi-Buddhist."

Meanwhile, the "Community" said: "They will say:" We have given up the joys for the community. " Answer: “What a cemetery is your community, if it is on vegetable oil. How tearfully dull the privations! How they lick their lips at forbidden delicacies! " “No one can be affirmed by soulless orders alone. Violence is a relic”.

These and many other fragments of the book dealt with the characteristic features of the barracks socialism erected by Soviet leaders, whom Roerich had warned about the social consequences of such a "vegetable oil community". There were also lines in this book dedicated to the “leader-dictator” of the barracks community - Stalin: “The man who sows horror himself is insanely afraid”, “… it is indecent for the driver to change the direction to the opposite”.

The dictator really changed the idea of building a just social system to the “reverse” - violence, fear, totalitarianism. Instead of freedom, equality and brotherhood, the country was flooded with murder, repression, prisons, torture. Who could have foreseen such a terrible ending of the once bright idea of building a humane social system? Imagine - Mahatmas foresaw for several years! The manuscript, which Roerich brought to Moscow in 1926, said: “Of all violence, the violent commune is the most criminal and ugly sight. Every violence is doomed to react, and the worst violence is doomed to react the worst."

The prophecy was not accepted, the warning was rejected - and the worst triumphed.

Did the country have an alternative to the worst? At that time it was still! After all, the first to understand that the forced renunciation of private property is a dead end was none other than the leader of the revolution, Lenin. Lenin's New Economic Policy, if it became not a temporary measure, but a permanent way of life, would open the way for the country to a completely different life …

Years will pass, and another leader - also a socialist country! - Deng Xiaoping successfully uses Lenin's partial return to capitalism for the benefit of China. The theory of convergence - a harmonious synthesis of the best that exists in both socialism and capitalism - will become the subject of discussion of serious economists and politicians …

But alas! What Lenin apparently understood and what the mysterious Eastern sages understood well, was incomprehensible to the “Makara nagulnovy” from the Kremlin.

The letter of the Mahatmas, transmitted by Roerich to the members of the Soviet government, said: "We know that many constructions will take place in the years 28-31-36." Therefore, then, in 1926, the country had a chance to avoid the dictatorship. Stalin did not finally establish himself in power, the dictatorship had not yet taken over the whole country, much was possible … But the country's leaders did not know how to analyze the present and look into the future, as Roerich's spiritual Teachers did.

Later, the spiritual Teachers informed Roerich that the best opportunities for state building in the country were missed and the indicated dates were filled with a different content … If the energies of good and creation are not brought into action in time, their antipodes - the forces of evil and destruction - come into force. Such are, according to the esoteric philosophy of the East, the patterns of the eternal struggle of evolutionary and involutionary, good and evil.

The diplomatic message of the Mahatmas in its form did not save the Roerichs from persecution by the NKVD. After conversations N. K. Roerich with Chicherin and Lunacharsky, Dzerzhinsky ordered the arrest of the artist, his family and other employees who came with him to Moscow. But literally the next day, the chief of Lubyanka suddenly died, not having time to carry out his plan. (Followers of the Roerichs are inclined to ascribe some providential reasons to this fact.) In the ensuing confusion, the Roerichs, warned by their mysterious Teacher about the need for an urgent departure, hastily left Moscow and went through Altai to Mongolia to continue the Central Asian expedition.

After some time, the new leadership of the Lubyanka woke up and sent a telegram to the OGPU resident in Mongolia, Consul Bystrov, with the order to arrest Roerich's expedition and transport its members back to Moscow. However, Bystrov was well acquainted with Nikolai Konstantinovich and his family. An educated and progressive-minded person, he could not help but sympathize with the spiritual aspirations of the philosopher and his talent. Instead of following the order, Bystrov told the Center that Roerich's expedition had already left the territory of Mongolia and he could not arrest it. At this time, the Roerichs, warned by the consul, urgently left the country. Escaping the long arms of the Lubyanka, the expedition headed east …

What their Teachers subsequently told the Roerichs about the future of their homeland could not be called optimistic: “You already know what karma Russia is preparing for itself” (1928)

Is it not this karma of murder, repression, fear and persecution that caused the failure of the attempt to build socialism in our country and, moreover, the reason for the difficult and difficult situation of most people even in modern Russia?

But everything could have been different if the Kremlin strategists had listened then, in 1926, to the warning of Roerich and his spiritual Teachers …

Be that as it may, the Roerich family risked their lives passing this warning to the Kremlin strategists. But the mission of Nikolai Konstantinovich and the purpose of his meetings with the Soviet government still remain a secret for historians with seven seals.
