Ghostbusters Host Warns Against Supernatural Encounters
Phantoms, spirits, poltergeists - this is just a small part of what the Ghostbusters team has to face on TV-3. The last season of the program was named "Battle for Moscow". We managed to talk with the host of the project Denis Grebenyuk and find out how he himself relates to the other world and what kind of danger the film crew faced.

- There are several differences. Firstly, viewers who contact us send not only letters, but also photos and videos, which capture the difficult-to-explain events and phenomena. For the first time, all these mysterious testimonies are shown in the program - and it was with them that technical specialists and psychics worked. Second, the Hunters' arsenal has been replenished with new technical gadgets with which they travel to the scene. Not a single mystery remained unsolved! Well, and thirdly, this is a new office, a new studio. So we are not standing still.
What do you think is the reason for the popularity of "Ghostbusters"? Is there an analogue of your program?
- I think you need to ask the viewers what exactly they like about the program. It is difficult to talk about analogs - I have not seen anything like this on Russian TV, although there are quite a few programs dedicated to the disclosure of secrets. I am personally impressed that we are not chasing yellow sensations, we are not trying to shock the viewer with some personal dramas, extrasensory investigations of brutal murders, and the like. We respect the viewer and let him build his own version of what is happening, unraveling the tangle with us.

How do you feel about otherworldly forces? Has your attitude to mystical phenomena changed during filming?
- I try not to disturb them, not to think a lot about them, not to cheat myself and others. I think that otherworldly forces, like all of us, need some kind of personal space, in which it is better not to interfere unnecessarily. I am sure that you can live without them - just like them without us. My opinion has not changed: often the solution is not in otherworldly forces, but in ourselves. Don't forget about it.
Did you believe in the paranormal before participating in the project? Have you come across something similar?
- Each of us will have some strange coincidences or events that remain inexplicable throughout our lives. For me, it's better to leave something unanswered. Some questions don't need answers. It's more interesting to live with intrigue. I personally try not to be too zealous in this, because as soon as you start looking for the paranormal in your life, you will definitely find it, so much so that it will not seem a little.
What is the most difficult part of the filming process?
- Sometimes, when the guys start their research, it immediately becomes clear that something is wrong here. Premonition or, if you like, intuition. But our premonitions are not enough for the viewer. And here new equipment will come to our aid, thanks to which we were able to touch what we could not “touch” in the previous seasons of the program.
Aren't you afraid to come into contact with the other world yourself?
- Whether he is otherworldly - that is the question. There are so many mysterious things on our planet! But otherworldly or quite real forces have left us these mysteries? Is it on the other side or on this one to look for answers? How long have we lived on this planet, what energy did our distant ancestors have, where are they now and how many "messages" have they left for us? Will we ever solve them? All this is very interesting, and, as always, there are more questions than answers. And looking for answers is scary. Terribly interesting.
It is worth considering whether to let mysticism into your life
How do your relatives feel about your participation in the project, taking into account its specifics?
- Calm down. They are no longer surprised by anything. The most popular question is whether there are real psychics on television. Undoubtedly, they meet, but before looking for contact with them, it is worth thinking about - whether to let the same, otherworldly, into your life?
You have plans to shoot your own film. Will it be associated with mysticism?
- You know, I am still accumulating useful information. Being a passionate fan of some Western TV series, I watch, admire, envy and learn in a good way. I am convinced that if you do something, then it is clearly superior to what they did before you. In modern conditions, it is not enough to make a simple film - you need to make it so that it carries an unheard-of statement and is flawless. Whether I will add mystical colors to the palette - I don't know yet, but it is possible.
Have you ever felt that by installing special equipment in apartments, you provoke unclean forces?
- Good question. Maybe everything that happens in the program is due to our provocation of unclean forces? I do not know. It is difficult for me to give a definition of what these "impure forces" are. We'll be more careful next time.
Did you ever get really scary on set?
- A couple of times our guys got under strange influences, who go, as they say, to places. There were two or three such cases, and I can say that this did not happen in any of the previous seasons. We, of course, were scared for the guys. One incident took place in a fairly well-known Moscow forest park area, another in a very strange old house, which left us with a lot of questions.
The project has existed for several years. Who is more susceptible to otherworldly forces: women or men?
- I tried several times to calculate - I myself was interested in this ratio. But, calculating this at the end of each season, I come to some kind of mystical balance!
Have you ever turned to psychics or parapsychologists for help?
- I contacted my other program on TV-3 - Places of Power. They were street fortune tellers in Morocco, healers in the Philippines, a village sorcerer in Zanzibar. A vivid and memorable experience! But I did not begin to be guided by it in later life after returning home.
Has it ever happened that after filming the show participants were not satisfied with the result?
- One way or another, but people who turn to us get what they are looking for. All they need is an answer to their tormenting question. I don’t remember the angry participants who would be outraged by something after the program.
During the filming of the program, you visited many cities of Russia: Ryazan, Volgograd, Rostov-on-Don. What do you remember the most?
- Our country is beautiful. Especially in summer! You look at this blooming and fragrant beauty - and you don't want to think about any mysticism. What I wish to all of us!
