The Pskov Region is located at the northwestern tip of the Russian Federation. On its territory, there are at least 3 thousand lakes, many rivers, rivulets, streams and impassable forest bowls. The population is small. For 1 sq. km there are only 12 people, and this is taking into account urban residents. There are many districts in the region. But we will be interested only in Loknyansky district, located in the eastern part of the region. Its population is 11 thousand people. Moreover, half of them live in the urban-type settlement Loknya. What is remarkable about this sparsely populated land?
In these places is the mysterious Loknyanskaya glade. A terrible legend is associated with it. In the 16th century, a large princely house stood on the site of the meadow. It was surrounded by barns, barns, cattle corrals. There was a kennel and a stable. There were many slaves who served their masters.
And then one day, even before the reign of Ivan the Terrible, a strong thunderstorm broke out. Lightning flashed, thunderclaps rolled across the ground. At some point, several dozen lightning strikes simultaneously struck the prince's house. The earth shook, opened up, and all the numerous buildings, together with people, went underground. A huge pit appeared, the bottom of which was impossible to see.
Years, decades have dragged on. Gradually, the giant crater was covered with earth and took the form of a clearing. And around the bushes and trees grew very densely. They created a continuous vegetation curtain, separating the mysterious place from the outside world.
It was very difficult to get through this vegetation. But if livestock or people succeeded in this, then the living creature could no longer get out. Those who got to a terrible place died on it. However, the corpses did not decompose for years. Over time, the dead skin took on a pale red hue. Only after 10 years did it begin to rot and gradually turned into decay.
It can be assumed that an anomalous zone has formed at the place of the lightning strike. But it was not limited to just a clearing. For a long time, strange things have been happening in a nearby village. Somehow, the abnormal field began to affect people. Those, by periods, became very aggressive. Good neighbors started to fight each other, and the carnage always ended in several deaths. For some unknown reason, peasant buildings flared up, and cattle perished.
Residents have repeatedly tried to leave the creepy place. They collected their belongings, but after driving a couple of kilometers from the village, they turned back and returned to their homes. No one could explain this behavior. People just had a strong desire to go back.

Meanwhile, the killer glade continued to collect the bloody tribute. Local residents and newcomers tried to bypass it as far as possible, but still, those who entered the thicket disappeared without a trace. Sometimes corpses were found. There were no visible injuries or wounds on their bodies, but the faces of all the dead were distorted with horror.
After increased activity that lasted for several years, the anomalous zone subsided. Loknyanskaya glade turned into an ordinary meadow, and the locals very quickly forgot about its sinister nature. But several decades passed, and the dark forces again began to annoy people and animals.
During the Great Patriotic War, anomalous phenomena saved the lives of local residents. German troops bypassed this area. During the entire period of the occupation, not a single enemy soldier appeared in the village. The war rumbled somewhere off to the side. There is no rational explanation for this.
In the early 60s of the XX century, the mysterious area was visited by 2 scientific research expeditions. One went towards the anomalous zone and disappeared. The members of the second expedition returned. But people began to lose their hair, and one young woman developed a red rash from head to toe. She soon died in a local hospital from a mysterious illness that could not be diagnosed.
By the mid-60s, the mysterious area became more active. At night, people began to observe a mysterious glow over the forest. The light flared up very quickly and then also quickly extinguished. In the daytime, the villagers saw various mirages in the sky. These were some kind of houses, outbuildings and people in old clothes.
After a couple of years, the local rivulet became shallow, and then disappeared altogether. The channel was overgrown with grass, and its color was bright green. Insects did not live in this vegetation, and domestic animals also avoided it.
And once a terrible thing happened. Heavy rain washed away the hillside ground outside the village. The water stream carried away the top layer of the soil and exposed some kind of ancient burial. The coffins in it all rotted long ago, but the corpses remained in excellent condition, as if people died not many hundreds of years ago, but just yesterday. It is noteworthy that the clothes in which the deceased were dressed were also in good condition.
The recovered bodies were reburied in another place, and the villagers began to urgently leave the village. The holding forces of Loknyansky glade ceased to affect the psyche, and the settlement very quickly became empty. Only the boarded-up houses remained, reminiscent of the fact that once in these places life was in full swing.
Residents of neighboring villages bypass these places. Visitors only occasionally approach the anomalous zone. Many of them disappear forever. This proves once again that local forests are dangerous and disastrous, and going into them without proper preparation is fraught with the most tragic consequences.
