According to the researcher of anomalous phenomena M. Korotkov from St. Petersburg, this story took place in the mid-eighties. M. Korotkov wrote it down from the words of the hero of incredible events, whose name is Vladimir Ivanovich M. At the time when all this happened, Vladimir Ivanovich was forty years old. He has a pedagogical education and to this day works in the field of education.

Somehow at the end of August, on a fine day, Vladimir Ivanovich gathered in the forest for mushrooms. Usually he went with his friends to certain long-favored places where there were a lot of mushrooms. But then for some reason he suddenly wanted to go to the forest alone.

He himself could not understand why such an intolerable need arose. And she was, according to Vladimir Ivanovich, precisely intolerable - as if some invisible force was pushing him in the back: go into the forest alone!

Our teacher got on the train at the Finlyadsky railway station in Leningrad (now - Petersburg), drove to the Kirillovskaya station - as usual. But then, instead of going to the long-chosen, cherished places that were found in the area of the local fur farm, Vladimir Ivanovich walked in a different direction. After all, our mushroom picker knew in advance that the places there are swampy and no one goes there! But it was not clear why I wanted to head there, even though you burst. Some inexplicable premonition of a special abundance of mushrooms in that swampy area made him turn off a familiar, well-known path.

The mood was excellent, the state of health was excellent. The sun … Quiet … Fresh air, saturated with the smell of pine needles … Vladimir Ivanovich, gathering for mushrooms, took with him from home a small portable radio, a flask of tea and sandwiches. After walking a couple of kilometers along the forest road, he decided to turn off it and go deep into the forest. To his surprise, mushrooms came across quite often, although the places around were clearly not mushroom: low bushes, tall grass.

Having typed in good-quality robust men from half a truck, the mushroom picker decided to rest and have a snack. He sat down on an old tree stump in the middle of a small clearing, took out sandwiches, turned on the radio, and then it suddenly turned out that he did not want to work. On all waves, on all bands, there were some strange growling wheezes, not at all similar to ordinary radio interference.

“Maybe I'm in a lowland,” Vladimir Ivanovich thought in surprise, “and the radio waves just don't reach here?..”

He reached out to turn off the receiver. And for no apparent reason, some terrible condition swept over him, overwhelmed him. wild irrational horror. I wanted to jump up from the hemp and run wherever they looked. However, he could not escape, because together with fear, an irrational, inexplicable need arose in his soul to head into the forest thicket in a strictly defined direction.

The mushroom picker was unable to resist the strange urge. And, obediently obeying an incomprehensible attraction, he wandered to where it seemed to lead him along …

The feeling of fear gradually dissipated, disappeared, and soon faded away completely. Meanwhile, the mysterious force that entailed it grew with every minute, like a magnetic or hypnotic effect.

Soon Vladimir Ivanovich went out into a swampy meadow. There he discovered a huge stone almost two meters high. From behind the stone a mysterious phosphoric glow was beating in all directions. The first thing that came to mind was, probably, a ball lightning hanging behind a stone, which Vladimir Ivanovich had never seen in his life to this day.

Terribly intrigued, he began cautiously around the stone in a wide arc. Indeed, I saw something strongly luminous behind him. When looking at this luminous, there was no pain or pain in the eyes. This must be what plasma looks like, thought the mushroom picker. The luminous "plasma bunch" had an ellipsoid shape with conical elongated sides. In the center it was encircled by a ring - also, like the body itself, a "plasma clot". From the ring down to the ground, three luminous fluxes departed at equal distances from each other. Each stream was like the evaporation of air in hot weather. It streamed from top to bottom like waste gases from a rocket nozzle.

Vladimir Ivanovich stood still for several minutes as if spellbound, not taking his eyes off the "plasma miracle" … And then either he completely lost consciousness, or some kind of partial eclipse occurred in his brain - in short, everything that happened later, was like a dream.

Some unknown force lifted the mushroom picker, according to his feelings, into the air. He was hovering above the ground in a horizontal position. The memories that remained about what was happening in those minutes were fragmentary, vague, vague. I remember most vividly something oval, reminiscent of a human head, which without a neck smoothly passed into a kind of body. Vladimir Ivanovich did not see the actual torso. The "head" was very close to his face, and only she was visible, as well as partly the "shoulders". On the "head" two points were clearly distinguished where the eyes were supposed to be, and a bulge resembling a nose …

It is not known how long this semi-fainting state lasted for the mushroom picker, but when he regained consciousness, he found that he was far from the place where his head was clouded. The overturned box was lying on the ground at his feet.

Vladimir Ivanovich completely recovered, as they say. He looked around, confusedly clapped his hands on his sides and was incredibly surprised to find that a small portable radio, hanging on a strap on his chest, as well as a wristwatch from the wrist of one hand and a wrist compass from the wrist of the other had disappeared. But the flask of tea was still resting on his hip, fastened to the belt.

The mushroom picker walked back and forth through the forest in search of the missing things, but did not find them anywhere.

It must be understood that the extraterrestrial clever who hypnotized Vladimir Ivanovich, and then, apparently, examined him, turned out to be, among other things, a petty thief. He insolently whistled at the mushroom picker a portable receiver, a clock and a compass.
