Biohacking director Aaron Treivik, 28, best known for homemade herpes serums, was found dead at a spa last Sunday.
The body of Aaron Treivik, CEO and founder of Ascendance Biomedical, was found in a spa in a flotation therapy (also known as "float") facility in Washington DC. Such an installation is a reservoir filled with a concentrated saline solution, the temperature of which coincides with the temperature of the human body. Immersion in it contributes to the onset of sensory deprivation - the dulling of feelings, which, according to the supporters of this technique, promotes psychological relaxation and stimulates positive brain activity.
Police are currently investigating the incident, but nothing indicates the violent nature of the death. Treivik promoted the use of innovative drugs bypassing clinical trials. He rose to prominence after injecting himself with a homemade herpes vaccine in February 2018 at a biohacking conference in Texas. In addition, in October he administered a serum he developed to HIV volunteers, after which Treivik was accused of illegal medical activities by the FDA.
