In Egypt, archaeologists have found two steles with images and inscriptions. One of them is more than three thousand years old, the other is more than two thousand.
Both finds were made at the Kom-Ombo temple complex in the south of the country. The steles are made of sandstone.
The oldest of them dates back to the XIX dynasty (1292-1186 BC). Its height is 2.3 meters, width - one meter, thickness - 0.3 meters. The stele was found split into two parts, but all the images, including the hieroglyphs, are perfectly preserved.
The slab depicts Pharaoh Seti I (circa 1296–1279 BC). The ruler of Egypt stands before the god Horus. There are 26 lines of hieroglyphs under the picture.
The second stele is much younger. It dates from the era of Ptolemy IV (approximately 222–203 BC). It is already difficult to call this king a pharaoh, since Egypt of that time was a fragment of the disintegrated power of Alexander the Great, from whose military leader the Ptolemaic dynasty came.
The second slab is 3.25 meters high, 1.15 meters wide and 0.3 meters thick. She was found split into many pieces. The drawings on it were practically destroyed, but the hieroglyphs survived. According to the mention of Ptolemy IV, the find was dated.
