Living in modern megalopolises, the inhabitants of the "civilized" West sometimes do not even realize how many people in the world suffer from lack of food, simply starving.
The figure of 815 million hungry is literally staggering. It turns out that every ninth inhabitant of the planet - not only fully, cannot even eat normally. And among these hungry people, children are the hardest hit, and are more likely than adults to die of malnutrition and wasting.
According to the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations), most of the hungry are in Asia - 520 million, followed by Africa - 243 million, 42 million are in Latin America and the Caribbean. And these figures are only for the last year, this year, especially in connection with the increased frequency of natural disasters and wars, they will, presumably, be much higher. However, they are becoming more and more frightening from year to year, although recent events in the world do not bode well in this regard. If this continues, the researchers say, by 2030, humanity will face the real problem of the worldwide famine.
And this at a time when in our civilized world 640 million people suffer from obesity, and almost 30 percent of food is thrown into landfills. Not to mention the fact that the leading countries of the world spend trillions of dollars on weapons (to destroy their own kind) - funds that would be quite enough to create a real paradise on Earth, where everyone would be fed, shod and have a roof over their heads.
It is also striking in this situation that a common man in the street can condemn wars, violence, theft of politicians, their inattention to the same starving people, and at the same time tyrannize their neighbors at the household level, lie and hide money from them, mock animals, litter nature with plastic and do a bunch of unseemly deeds, not even realizing that in this case he is doing no better than the most cruel and indifferent dictator.
And after all this, people wonder why the aliens do not want to come into contact with us?..
