Many of the world's most influential people are gathering for the mysterious Bilderberg Group's annual meeting this week. Russia, the Trump administration, and the Information War are key topics of discussion.

This year's gathering is taking place in Chantilly, Virginia, less than 30 miles from the White House, and the Oval Office has confirmed that its representatives are the number one among the 131 invitees who have announced their attendance.

The four-day event will feature many White House figures, including Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, National Security Adviser Herbert McMaster, and Presidential Aide Christopher Liddell.

Other topics for discussion: "Russia in the international order", "China", "Transatlantic Defense Alliance: Bullets, Bytes and Bucks", "Information War", "EU Goals" and "Why is Populism Rising?"

The current event is the 65th in a row of a notorious group that has met every year since 1954. The founders of the group were Denis Healy, Joseph Retinger, David Rockefeller and Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands.

The group states that the conference "is designed to promote dialogue between Europe and North America." Famous people from the fields of politics, industry, finance, media and academia take part in it annually. About two thirds of the participants come from Europe and the rest from North America.

Other top Trump executives this year include NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, Republican Senators Tom Cotton and Lindsay Graham, and Chinese Ambassador to the United States Cui Tiankai.

Editors and chief commentators from several internationally renowned publications including Bloomberg, The Economist, The Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera and the London Evening Standard will also be in attendance.

Bilderberger meetings are notorious for the lack of information about what happens during the discussions, they are closed to the public and journalists. All meetings are held in accordance with the Chatham House Rule, which means that participants are free to use the information received, but not to identify the speakers and their affiliation. In addition, no comments are allowed, no entries are made, and no information is transmitted to the media.

No one can buy their participation in the meetings, rather they must be invited. Invited guests are not allowed to bring partners with them, and the group reportedly never visits the same hotel twice.

Among the most famous past members are Henry Kissinger (who is expected to arrive again this year), Bill Gates, numerous members of European royals, Bill Clinton and Margaret Thatcher, who were both present before they came to power.
