Recently, an eyewitness from Canada wrote to the American researcher of phantoms and monsters Lon Strickler. Laun said he has tracked flying cryptids in Quebec, Ontario, and upstate New York since last year and has had a decent amount of those sightings.
Earlier (since the spring of 2017), a similar surge in observations of a large flying humanoid came to him from Chicago and its environs.
So, the eyewitness girl under the initials PS described that in December 2017 she went with her friend to visit her grandmother on holidays in the countryside in Quebec, in the area of the city of Nyu Rishmont and St. Edgar.
“My friend and I took my grandmother's car and drove it into town. There are not many places for entertainment, mostly people just get drunk and race along the winding road, and their family cheers for them. In general, there are a lot of accidents, and besides, deer often fly out onto the road.
In general, imagine that we, too, are returning from the city and driving along this road, drifting along it with laughter. We reached almost the very end of the road, soon the house should appear, and then something large and dark flies out from behind a tree to our right. The headlights illuminated only part of the road and it was difficult to see anything other than the swinging trees, but we did.
He had huge black wings that wrapped around his body like a "blanket" (like sleeping bats). Against the background of a very dark sky, his silhouette almost merged with the sky, but we saw that his body was massive. It was something like a moose with wings and no four legs. But it was definitely not elk or deer!
Then my boyfriend drove quickly along the road, we were no longer fooling around and drifting, we just wanted to get home as soon as possible. My boyfriend refused to believe that this creature was something supernatural. He said that maybe it was a huge owl. The largest owl in the world. I told him that if he ever finds an owl the size of a car (and it was exactly the size it was), then it will definitely not be an owl.
I did not think about this case until I came across an audiobook of horror stories about skinwalkers (Skinwalkers - in Indian myths something like werewolves, evil night creatures). And I thought that what we saw with my friend might be a mysterious cryptid. Maybe it was something like the Moth Man or the Jersey Devil.

Lon Strickler responded to this letter and asked a few additional questions. He also wrote to an eyewitness that he had received several reports from Quebec about the sighting of a huge winged monster. The girl wrote to him again.
“Oh my god, so there were other people who saw him? This road near Niu Rishmon is called Chemin Mercier and is quite long, especially if it is covered with snow. The wingspan of this creature was 15-20 feet (4.5-6 meters) and in appearance they were not leathery, but more like the wings of a bird.
The body itself was not very large compared to the wingspan and I cannot tell if it was humanoid (human-like). It was very dark. I can only say that it was much greater in height than in width and seemed to stand on two limbs. It's all. I didn’t see his hands or face, I didn’t see his eyes either.”
