Mighty deity Cthulhu, photos and pictures with an alien demon. The meaning of the slogan "Cthulhu Fkhtagn", myths and legends about the ruler of the worlds and the ruler of the human mind. Whom Yogi Sothoth serves, and what is the threat of meeting this demon?

The universe created by Howard Lovecraft is dark and fantastic. It is inhabited by the powerful demon Cthulhu - the ruler of the worlds and the high priest of the disappeared race of the Great Old Ones, who arrived on Earth long before the appearance of mankind. Cthulhu sleeps at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, but even in this state, the demon is able to influence the mind of people. And one day, when the stars in the sky take the right position, the sleeper will wake up …

Cthulhu - demon photo gallery

For obvious reasons, a photo of Cthulhu would hardly have been possible to make, even if the alien demon really existed. Therefore, "miserable mortals" can be content with pictures depicting a sea monster.

In this picture, we see Cthulhu as Lovecraft envisioned it. Strong leathery wings are crowned with sharp claws, a predatory and dull look penetrates into the very soul of a person. And, of course, the head of our hero smoothly turns into the classic tentacles of an octopus.

In this photo, Cthulhu is preparing to devour an old sailing ship that was not lucky enough to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Pay attention to the massive arms of the sea giant - it seems that he has a well-equipped gym under the water.

The ruler of the worlds has risen from the seabed, and is ready to conquer miserable people. Apparently he is going to start with a small island lighthouse. And as soon as Cthulhu saw this "tiny" object?

The invasion has begun, which means that the stars have taken the right position and the sleeping Cthulhu has awakened. In this image, you can see that the demon has not only spiked wings, but also massive claws.

Unlike a regular octopus or even a giant kraken octopus, Cthulhu feels pretty good on land. I wonder if his skin will withstand a direct hit from an anti-tank shell? Alas, even Wikipedia does not know this.

What does "Cthulhu Fhtagn" mean?

As we know thanks to Lovecraft, the lord of the worlds is biding his time at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. So far, he sleeps and sees dreams, but someday the demon will definitely awaken. This is what the slogan "Cthulhu Fkhtagn" symbolizes, which can be translated as "Cthulhu awaits."

By the way, the sovereign is waiting in the wings for a reason, among fish, crabs and other aquatic animals. In the depths of the Pacific Ocean there is a whole underwater city of R'lyeh. According to legend, this city exists in several dimensions at once and keeps treasures of knowledge accumulated by an extraterrestrial race. How not to remember the sunken Atlantis!

Lovecraft's slogan "Cthulhu Fhtagn" was borrowed by some nationalist movements and groups. They use it as a kind of dark allusion to the destructive potential of accumulating anger and resentment, which will inevitably spill out one day.

The demon Cthulhu is capable of influencing the human mind. However, his colossal abilities are partially blocked by the water column under which he sleeps. Therefore, the influence of the lord of the worlds extends only to sleeping people. If desired, he can send nightmares to unwanted ones.

Whom Yogi Sothoth Serves

This is another demon described by Howard Lovecraft and several other science fiction writers. Yog-Sothoth is found in the story "Horror in the Museum", as well as in the novels by Stephen King "Necessary Things" and "Jerusalem's Destiny". Yog Sothoth has the unique ability to exist simultaneously in all space and in all times. Paradoxically, at the same time, he is locked outside the visible universe.

The physical form of the demon is noticeably different from its counterpart in the pantheon - Cthulhu. Yog-Sothoth resembles a floating sun, consisting of many luminous balls. These balls form a disorderly jumble, they constantly shimmer and change their shape. You can draw a parallel with the mythical demon Hermaeus Mora, who lives in the Tamriel universe of the game series The Elder Scroll.

According to Lovecraft, Yog Sothoth serves as the guardian or gatekeeper guarding the gateway between worlds. By nature, he is neutral, but the very sight of the demon is filled with a deep cosmic threat.

Octopus kraken - the prototype of Cthulhu?

I must say that Lovecraft was far from the first inventor of the legend about a giant sea monster with tentacles and living at the bottom of the ocean. Wikipedia believes that the writer borrowed the image of the Polynesian deity of the sea named Tangaroa. Hawaiian myths mention this chthonic entity, which owns the secrets of witchcraft. Tangaroa appears as a giant squid or octopus.

However, this version is not the only one. In the Middle Ages, superstitious sailors believed in the existence of a giant kraken octopus, capable of sinking ships. It was the giant octopus that was accused of the mysterious disappearances of ships in the Bermuda Triangle. It was believed that the kraken is so large in size that it can accidentally be mistaken for a small island.

By the way, giant octopuses do exist. This was established by the American zoologist Addison Verril. Of course, the specimens he found did not reach the size of the mythical kraken. Nevertheless, a case of catching a giant octopus, whose body length was 27 meters, was recorded.
