In 1557 Konrad Lykosfenes published an illustrated book presenting an illustrated history of medieval life from the point of view of a Renaissance man. In addition to the images of floods, fires and earthquakes, the book depicts unusual creatures and, as mystics believe, even UFOs. The book allegedly contains an engraving depicting a spaceship with rows of portholes seen by the inhabitants of Arabia in 1497.
The Rohontsi Codex is an undeciphered manuscript written in a language still unknown. It was found in Hungary and donated to the local academy of sciences. The unknown language is accompanied by 87 illustrations of landscapes, military battles and scenes of religious life. Apparently, it is a hoax performed by a Transylvanian antiquarian.
The Book of Soiga is a mysterious treatise on the paranormal, containing spells, knowledge of astrology and demonology. The book of the 16th century belonged to the thinker from Elizabethan England, John Dee, who was interested in the occult and believed that the mysteries of the universe could be comprehended through mathematics (and even thus reached divinity). It's funny, but according to one of the legends, Dee was a secret agent of the British Crown: Dee signed his reports to Queen Elizabeth I: "007".
