"In Australia, even the Sun is different - and it looks like you are on a completely different planet …"

The "12 Apostles" are not only well-known personalities from biblical traditions, Christ's companions, but also 12 huge stone pillars in Australia, sonorously named so because of external similarity, not just for the sake of good tourism … Only now they are no longer 12 - and more. Exactly five. Five sunken "Apostles" were found under water …

Five new Apostles were discovered near the world famous tourist attraction "The Twelve Apostles". The latter is a group of limestone cliffs jutting out of the ocean off the coast in Port Campbell National Park, Australia. But the rocks discovered now cannot be seen by visitors from the observation deck - they are hidden under water. Experts dubbed the newcomers “the sunken Apostles”.

The discovery of five underwater sea pillars near Port Campbell amazed geomorphologists because such “submerged” limestone pillars were discovered for the first time in history.

The discovery was made by Rhiannon Bezore, who analyzed pre-scan data for the region in March 2015. “We were able to find these features that were remarkably similar to the famous Twelve Apostles,” she says. - The discovered sea pillars are very old but, meanwhile, are hidden under water, which is quite unique. These are the first pillars of this kind."

"It is very surprising that such things can remain intact underwater," notes geographer David Kennedy of the University of Melbourne in Australia.

According to Kennedy, the sea columns survived because the sea rose rapidly during the last ice age.

It is noted that the five discovered stone columns are located in the open sea about six kilometers from the Twelve Apostles. On average, they reach a height of five meters.

Experts have already examined the tops of the sunken rocks and collected stones for analysis. Further, scientists hope to study the unique rocks using underwater cameras.

According to researchers, the age of the recently discovered underwater columns is about 60 thousand years, which is much older than the famous Twelve Apostles. The age of the latter, according to experts, ranges between six and seven thousand years.

Let's watch a great video of the Sunken Apostles:
