More than one hundred coins of the IV-V centuries. AD were discovered by archaeologists at the site of an ancient collapsed building near the harbor of Corinth in Greece. A total of 119 coins were found, along with an iron lock, which may have closed the unpreserved box. Why the owner did not take the treasure after the building collapsed is unknown.

The coins were found at a depth of only 30-40 cm from the current ground level under the tile roof. The treasure could be easily obtained.

The excavations were carried out by a group of American scientists in 2016-2017. Some of the coins, most of which were bronze, have yet to be refined by researchers.

The oldest coin in the hoard was made shortly after the death of the Roman emperor Constantine the Great, who ruled from 306 to 337. The latest ones were made during the reign of the Byzantine emperor Anastasius I (491-518). Most likely, they were made in 491 - 498. before Anastasius I reformed the monetary system.

One of the coins featured a cross. This coin was produced in 425-450. The collapsed building could have been a shipyard. Slag, unused iron, animal bones and a concrete cavity were found here.
