Last year, news broke into global media headlines that the Pentagon had launched a $ 22 million research project known as the Advanced Aviation Threat Identification Program (AATIP).

This program was in some way associated with Robert Bigelow, a famous aerospace entrepreneur, and has become a commonplace in all conspiracy theories, whose proponents claim that the US government and some trusted private contractors control military or militarized objects hidden from the public eye, full of alien technology and artifacts that are copied as far as possible.

On the other hand, skeptics believe that AATIP is perhaps just a way to siphon money from the state budget. In particular, pushing vague projects like AATIP, the politicians of Nevada are directing all-American money exclusively to their, as it were, “studying aliens” state.

With the emergence of information about AATIP, US conspiracy theorists renewed calls for the government to reveal all knowledge of extraterrestrial visitors. Unfortunately, this will probably never happen.

However, this week it was not just a “former researcher” from AATIP, but Luis Elizondo, that is, the former official head of this strange government program, gave an interesting interview to Las Vegas Now. Quote:

Luis Elizondo says that when he ran the Pentagon's UFO program, he faced religious opposition to the program among senior military and scientific personnel who had access to evidence of UFOs. All these people did not believe in the existence of extraterrestrial life because they considered UFOs and aliens to be a manifestation of something demonic.

Further in an interview with Las Vegas Now, former AATIP chief Luis Elizondo says that many senior government officials are opposed to religious research. Some politicians, generals and intelligence leaders not only refuse to cooperate, but openly oppose the program, arguing that "the project is too closely associated with demonic or satanic forces."

At first glance, such a statement by the former head of AATIP looks like an attempt at self-promotion. However, Nick Pope, another former US Department of Defense employee involved in UFO work, says much the same. That is, while working on a similar AATIP project, he faced similar active opposition from some especially religious high-ranking officials from the military.

Nick Pope cites the Bible verse Ephesians 2: 2 as a possible basis for equating UFOs by generals with demonic forces:

in which you once lived, according to the custom of this world, according to the will of the prince who rules in the air, the spirit that is now working in the sons of opposition

This attitude of the generals from the Pentagon towards aliens is very incomprehensible. It turns out that some ancient superstitions hinder legitimate scientific research on anomalous air phenomena? Or can it be exactly the opposite: real contacts with “UFO visitors” do not allow some people to recognize them as alien creatures, but rather tend to think that “aliens” are something immaterial and demonic?

Indeed, religious beliefs actually contradict UFO research. However, many religions contain stories or legends about divine beings descending from heaven to give knowledge or gifts to humanity.

Could it be that these were the very "close contacts of the 3rd kind"? Maybe all the religions of the world are just ancient retellings of today's UFO accounts?
