Photographers who encountered this kind of phenomenon did not find an explanation for it, but the spiritualists were clear: a ghost was captured in the picture.

In the facial features of the figure that appeared in the photograph, many recognized the faces of their deceased relatives, and when it seemed that this was someone unfamiliar, then during the investigation it was established that the captured people were somehow connected with the place where the picture was taken. For example, in the famous book by F. Smith, "Ghosts and Poltergeists", a photograph from a Liverpool prison is mentioned. Nearby and slightly in front of the subjects, as if shining through them, two brutes in prison uniforms stand and look at the viewer. The old residents of the prison immediately recognized them as prisoners killed in a fight with inmates over 20 years ago.

But more often, only dark or light clumps are visible in the pictures - shapeless or humanoid, with indistinguishable faces. There is a picture in which such a foggy figure, arms outstretched, hovers over the newlyweds. Some parts of the ghost can appear in the "spiritualistic pictures" - the head, face, hands, which stick out, for example, from the wall wallpaper, from the cabinet door, from other objects, simply hang in the air or even "put" to the bodies or clothes of the subjects. The author of these lines happened to see a photograph in which a dark hand, as if cut off at the elbow, points a finger at one of the posing women. This woman, I was told, died in a car accident shortly after the photo session.

Until recently, photos with ghosts, checked by specialists and, as they say, received a "certificate of authenticity", were very rare. But now the situation has changed. Over the past 10-15 years, mobile phones have come into use, allowing you to take snapshots, and most importantly, security cameras have become widespread, vigilantly, 24 hours a day, watching the territory entrusted to them. In some cities, such as London or Tokyo, video cameras cover almost every square meter of the territory. And there is nothing surprising in the fact that the number of anomalous phenomena recorded by such equipment has increased significantly.

A selection of documentaries featuring ghosts was recently shown on TV. These short films, captured by tracking cameras or filmed by people who had no idea what was getting into their lens, are just the "tip of the iceberg", a small part of the video material accumulated in recent years. Before showing this "movie" to the general public, he was given the strictest verification of authenticity. In the films, dark humanoid silhouettes move quite meaningfully, which, of course, were not visible during filming. One of these silhouettes was filmed at a kindergarten party. Children dance around the tree. A foggy translucent figure first moves between them, and then sits down on a chair in a completely human way. It is especially noteworthy that the chair occupied by the ghost, which seemed to be in a prominent place,right in front of the tree, none of the people for some reason sat down.

On a crowded street in Kyoto (Japan), on a clear day, a tracking video camera recorded a strange lanky man in a crowd of passers-by, almost one and a half meters towered above those around him. His head with a frozen face was poorly visible, but still it was clear that he was twisting it. The stranger seemed to be looking for someone. Keeping the body in one position, he turned his head on the go and eventually turned it - this was clearly visible - more than 180 degrees. At the same time, none of the many passers-by paid attention to the ghost. He stayed in the field of view of the video camera for 15 seconds, following the stream of pedestrians and disappearing from sight.

With a high degree of probability, a "spiritualistic shot" can be taken where the poltergeist is going. The equipment often refuses to work in such places, but if it does not break down, then dark or translucent formations, anthropomorphic silhouettes, individual hands, faces are recorded in the photographs, and if sound recording devices are connected, then extraneous noises are heard, such as the sounds of footsteps and indistinct vote.

Ghostly figures appear in photographs taken at murder sites; in old houses fanned with ill fame; in swamps, ruins, on the battlefields. The faces of the ghosts were visible in the huge plumes of smoke that emerged when the New York towers fell in September 2001. Among Russian cities, where anomalies are relatively often recorded in photographs, St. Petersburg holds the palm.

Troyer's story

In England, video cameras installed in the corridors of ancient castles often "detect" foggy formations, often having a humanoid shape. They move and disappear in walls or in tightly locked doors, sometimes dissolve in the air directly in the course of their movement. Scientists who were contacted for explanations could only say that these were possibly lumps of some kind of energy. The phenomenon of "ghostly objects" could be compared with the phenomenon of ball lightning, if the objects did not have clearly expressed human forms and did not show human meaningfulness in their behavior.

There are times when ghosts do not wait for filming, but themselves seep onto the film. Something similar happened in the mid-1980s to amateur photographer Stanley Troyer from Make, Illinois (USA).

After the death of his wife, Troer, a very old man, fell into a deep depression and did not touch his favorite camera for several weeks. Finally, he went for a walk and took five views of the city's surroundings. When Stanley began to develop negatives, on all five, through the images of trees, the face of his deceased wife appeared. Outwardly, it was like one of those, not so rare, oversights of any photographer, when two shots are superimposed on the same frame. But in this case, the image of his wife - to the same 50 years ago - appeared from nowhere. This old photo of a very young girl was still kept by Troyer, he remembered it well. When the photographer took out the photo and compared it with the superimposed image, there was no doubt: the very photo appeared on the film. He continued to photograph, and no matter what the old man "clicked"all his photographs were superimposed on old photographs of his wife.

The soul is immortal

Troer invited a neighbor, also a photographer, as a witness, filled the camera with new film with him, took several pictures with him and immediately developed them, again getting the same effect: all the photographs had a double image. And one photo contained a photo, also from their young years, where they were filmed together - his wife and he, Stanley Troyer.

Troer had no doubt that the superimposed images were messages from the deceased wife, who seeks to calm him down and inform him that in the world where she is now, she is as young as in these pictures. And the photo in which the two of them are together is the news of that. that Stanley, after death, will gain youth, and they will finally unite.

A neighbor contacted the university specialists, but while they were about to leave for Meikom, the phenomenon of "overlay images" stopped. Troyer himself said later that he does not strive for fame and he does not care what they think about all this. The main thing is that the photographer made sure for himself that the soul of a person does not die after physical death.
