Island of no return
There are such unusual islands on our planet, visiting which is extremely life-threatening. One of them is located in Kenya, its name is "Envaitenet". Over the past decades, people have often disappeared here, so the name "irrevocable" island is fully justified.
Where have the scientists gone?
In the north of Kenya, in the very center of Lake Rudolph, is the mysterious island of Envaitenet. Not the first ten years about him there is a bad reputation. Nobody tries to settle here, because people in this area often disappear. Although I must admit - at first glance, it may seem that the place is very good.
Tragic events began back in 1935. That year an ethnographic expedition was working on the lake under the leadership of a Briton named Vivian Fush. The Elmolo tribe living on the shore of the reservoir became the subject of interest of scientists. The investigations also touched upon the ill-fated island, on the coast of which Bill Dyson and Martin Scheflees landed.
Working in Africa is dangerous for Europeans. This is due not only to the unusual climate, but also to the many poisonous insects and dangerous creeping reptiles. Every evening, the newly arrived islanders Bill and Martin gave signals to their colleagues on the coast with brightly glowing kerosene lamps. This indicated that everything was fine with them.
The time came when the signals stopped. At first, their absence was attributed to the busyness and forgetfulness of colleagues. And only half a month later a search group was sent to search for Dyson and Sheflis. However, there were no traces of the presence of scientists on the island.

Fush called the plane, which repeatedly flew around the island at low altitude. And no result! Two hundred men were selected from the local tribes, who marched along the territory of the island for a substantial reward. Again, nothing! It seemed that Dyson and Sheflis had never appeared here. The mystery of their disappearance remains unsolved to this day.
After 20 years, everything repeats itself
The mysterious disappearance of scientists was gradually forgotten, after all, almost twenty years have passed. Several clans of the Elmolo tribe decided to set up a camp on the island. A small village was formed, the inhabitants of which were engaged in fishing, they exchanged their catch for milk and grain. Repeatedly, the islanders invited friends and relatives who remained on the shore to visit.
And then one day the invitees arrived on the island. Imagine their surprise when they did not find anyone here! All the fish are rotten, and the fires have long gone out. It was not possible to find any traces of the attack on the settlement. Locals disappeared as mysteriously as scientists from England.
The abnormal island has attracted the interest of a number of researchers. The first step was to study ancient evidence and documents concerning this place. It turned out that the first disappearances on the island were evidenced back in 1630. At that time, several African families lived here. The abundant fish catch allowed the village to expand.
However, over time, some oddities began to appear on the island. There were no birds or animals in the forests, but a varied flora, painted in a bright emerald color, grew magnificently. Some smooth stones appeared and disappeared on the island. In the full moon, heartbreaking screams were heard, from which the skin froze. Gradually, the screams turned into a drawn-out groan, which led people to indescribable horror.
And then the ghosts appeared
Subsequent events turned out to be even stranger. Like a living being, oh. Envaitenet "went on the warpath" and began to reclaim its territory from the people. Fences made of trees appeared everywhere. Their wood was like stone, and the branches were very densely intertwined. In some corners of the island it was impossible to penetrate, as if there was something otherworldly hidden there.
Then it got worse. Some of the islanders began to suffer from hallucinations. The inhabitants of Envaitenet have observed ghosts that vaguely resemble humans. The meeting with the spirit ended for the person with a state of paralysis, lasting for several hours.
After a meeting with the otherworldly forces, the unfortunate man or his relatives faced trouble. People could be poisoned with quite normal food, fall out of the blue and be crippled, drown in the lake.
Subsequent events took on an even more terrible character. The island is filled with unimaginable monsters. They appeared suddenly, were extremely aggressive and often attacked people. Some Africans were rescued by very fast legs, others disappeared without a trace.
The inhabitants of the coast stopped visiting the terrible island and did not even want to talk about it. At the end of the 18th century, two private expeditions from Holland and Germany tried to solve its riddle. Unfortunately, they also disappeared without a trace.
The island keeps its secret
What hides this small piece of land, washed by the waters of Lake Rudolf? The answer to this question has not been found. Incredible versions are periodically put forward, among which even the most fantastic versions come across. Locals believe that they are pursued by an evil fate - the Elmolo tribe is dying out, its number barely reaches a hundred people.
The Elmolo people testify to a mysterious mirage that sometimes hovers over the island of Envaitenet. It has the outlines of a ruined ancient city. The vision is accompanied by incomprehensible sounds, vaguely reminiscent of a dreary funeral song. After such contemplations, people lose their appetite, their eyesight drops, muscle and headaches develop.
Other tribes live on the shores of the lake - Turkana and Samburu. The people of the Samburu tribe believe that disturbed sorcerers, whose spirits have moved into huge cobras, are taking revenge on them. According to Turkan, the island is the petrified body of the earth goddess who takes the best teenagers and men. Wives, daughters and sisters follow them underground.
The versions of local tribes, of course, do not pretend to solve the mystery of Envaitenet Island. The most scientific hypothesis seems to be put forward by the Royal Geographical Society, whose researchers had to work hard in those parts. According to scientists, poisonous gases come out of the lake of volcanic origin. They have an effect on the human psyche, and the unfortunate ones throw themselves into the water, drown or become victims of crocodiles.
According to the most incredible hypothesis, the inhabitants of a parallel world kidnap people through a portal that opens from time to time. It is also possible that the unfortunate run there themselves, being fascinated by the structure and beauty of reality “on the other side of being”.
