In the middle of the 19th century, in the city of Nimrud, on the territory of modern Iraq, a rather interesting artifact was discovered, namely, a rock crystal lens in the form of not ideal, but a circle.
The age was established at 3,000 years, due to other finds and the temple where this lens was actually found, if it can be called that, of course, since the artifact raises questions.
Among scientists, and other specialists, there were all sorts of disputes about the purpose of the artifact. Some claimed that this is a lens that gives an increase in the elements viewed through it, others denied this, but at the same time, they did not offer anything interesting.
Therefore, it is still believed that this is a magnifying lens or loupe created in antiquity. Although another, no less plausible version was proposed.
A little later after the discovery, a physicist from Scotland stated that this is not a lens, but a device that is capable of concentrating many rays of the sun at one point.
As for the artifact itself, we can note a rather rough processing, although it is crystal, as well as a shape that, to put it mildly, is not close to the geometric ideal.

But the purpose of the Nimrud disk, it was not possible to find out with accuracy, only some guesses. They said that if this is a lens, then it is the first on the planet, but this is not so.
If you recall the crystal eyes of the statues of Ancient Egypt, then there is already perfect processing, symmetry of the eyes, they were only created more than 3000 years ago.
After this artifact, one gets the impression that in ancient times, somewhere there were advanced technologies, and in other places, people really had only primitive tools.
