The author of the book "Gods Were Astronauts" states that aliens not only visited our planet several times, but are present here and even observe what we do. A Metro journalist spoke to a Swiss writer about this controversial issue.
Erich Anton Paul von Daniken defends his position that UFOs have been visiting Earth since ancient times. He writes that their last appearance was recorded in 1917. He is convinced that the authorities are aware of the existence of extraterrestrial life. Metro spoke with von Daniken about this issue in more detail.
It turns out that the authorities are hiding the existence of UFOs from people?
Without a doubt. Our community is organized in such a way that everyone wants to be right, we are afraid to seem stupid. We laugh at things that seem silly to us and don't take them seriously. So, for example, 20 years ago, conversations about UFOs were ridiculous, everyone who spoke about this phenomenon was condemned. We can find CIA documents that clearly state that any evidence of unidentified flying objects should not be taken seriously. Today, however, politicians, American astronauts and the military are confirming their existence. There are even relevant documents.
Why are alien beings interested in us?
We are nothing. Absolutely. Take ants for example. We look at them, observe how groups of insects fight, killing each other. But we don't interfere, because we don't care what the ants are doing. Alien creatures are about the same. They are just watching us, but not interfering.
It turns out that they are watching us just out of curiosity?
Not really, we are part of them. In all scriptures, incl. and the Bible says that the Lord created us in his own image and likeness. We ask ourselves, “Why did God create us like this? What's the point of this? Humanity knows that from the point of view of genetics, we are not just a product of evolution. Yes, we have evolved, but that's not all: the main thing is that the information was brought in from outside. We are descendants of other systems. That is why the other intelligences watching us know us so well. They understand that, having appeared to us, chaos will begin on Earth. People need to be prepared to meet them.

We will find habitable places in the universe. Several months ago, NASA gave a press conference at which it announced that the Hubble Telescope recorded 4.9 billion planets similar to Earth. We are definitely not the only ones in the universe.

Erich Anton Paul von Daniken was born in Switzerland in 1935. He studied for 6 years in a Jesuit school, where, after translating the Bible from Latin into German, he began to think about the nature of miraculous Christian phenomena: maybe they are actually alien, because similar images were captured in other religions. The result of his research was published in the book "Gods were astronauts", which became a bestseller around the world. Since then Daniken has written 40 more books.
At 82, the scientist does not recognize himself as a guru: “Everything that I do has nothing to do with religion, you may not believe in me. And this is not necessary, because soon you yourself will find out everything. And even more. Something that will change our view of the world."
