Scientists from the United States of America plan to study microorganisms that are believed to live in the upper layers of the atmospheric masses of our planet. A unique experiment will be carried out in Alaska.
Employees of the University of Houston, according to the site tdnu.ru, will look for microbes at altitudes from eighteen to fifty kilometers - at such a distance from the Earth's surface, there are very special microorganisms that are still extremely poorly studied.
According to ambitious plans, microbes will be caught using a special probe resembling a laundry basket.
“We already have some samples of bacteria living in the upper atmosphere, but they are extremely insufficient for a comprehensive study. The new biomaterial, which we hope to collect using an altitude probe, will solve this problem,”the authors of the scientific work say.
According to which, microorganisms present in the upper layers of the planet's air envelope can travel thousands and tens of thousands of kilometers, which creates an amazing picture of their migration. The study of such bacteria and the peculiarities of their migration may become the beginning of a new direction in science.
