Many people ridicule the concept of reincarnation. Whether reincarnation is true or fiction, says Dr. Omoniy Fagbemi, head of the therapy department at Longing Medical Center in Ijaya, Lagos, Nigeria, in an interview.

He says that, whether we are aware of it or not, whether we believe in it or not, we have all been here once.

- Is reincarnation a fact or a product of a rich human imagination? Or both?

- To answer this question, I must first define the concept of "reincarnation" and explain what it means.

Reincarnation is the process by which a person whose body has died is allowed to live again on Earth in a different physical body. Who is a man? Man is not a physical body of flesh and blood, which we all wear, which can see and feel. Man is a Spirit or Soul, whose source, or Home, is in Heaven.

A person must leave Heaven and come to Earth in order to achieve spiritual development (maturity), because due to the nature of his spirituality he would be too weak to withstand the onslaught of energies in Heaven. Almighty God in his boundless love and Grace listens to the prayers of unconscious human souls and allows them to come to Earth to learn and develop. Spirit, due to its thinner consistency relative to matter (Earth), cannot function on Earth without a special vehicle. This vehicle is our physical body of flesh and blood, which we all carry.

Hence, a person is a Spirit, while a physical body is only a tool or vehicle that Spirit needs to function on Earth. The physical body by its nature has a life span. The maximum lifespan of the physical body is not sufficient for the Spirit to learn everything it needs to mature and then return to its Home in Heaven fully aware. The Almighty graciously allowed the Spirit to return to Earth in a new body so that it could continue to gain experience and become mature. The process of returning a human soul to Earth in a new body is reincarnation. Without this, not a single human spirit will mature enough to reach Paradise, otherwise everything would end in death.

So, reincarnation is a reality and a special grace. This brief explanation is the true concept of reincarnation. There are some teachings that say that people can return as animals, trees, stones, etc. This is not true. The human spirit, by the nature of its species and in accordance with the laws of Almighty God, can only use the human form of the body on Earth.

- If reincarnation is a fact, why can't we remember our past lives? Why do most people reject the concept of reincarnation?

- Most people reject the concept of reincarnation mainly because of the doctrines and dogmas of various belief systems that are postulated at the present time, especially in the framework of modern religious beliefs.

However, if you do your research on ancient and traditional beliefs, you will find that the theory of reincarnation is known and accepted in almost all cultures, although there may be some inaccuracies in the concept here and there. For example, the concepts behind names such as: Iyabo, Yetunde, Babawande in the Yoruba culture, Ino Uwa in the Igbo culture reflect the acceptance of the concept of reincarnation by these cultures.

We are not allowed to remember our past incarnations (except in some special cases), because if we know about our past lives, we will not focus on the present. We will not absorb our present experience for the maturity of our Spirit. Reincarnation is intended for the further maturation of the Spirit, as well as for compensation for the damage caused. So let's imagine a poor man who was very rich in his previous life. It will be difficult for him to learn the necessary humility to absorb his present experience. Now imagine a person who has committed many atrocities in his previous life.

His awareness of his past, coupled with the realization that he must correct what he has done in accordance with the law of Sowing and Reaping, will make him so desperate that he practically will not live! Consequently, the Lord, by his grace, does not allow us to possess this knowledge. But when we throw off our body (at the moment of death), the bandage put on our spiritual eyes disappears, and we immediately see. In fact, today there is no one who has not reincarnated! There are no firstborn on Earth today. Nevertheless, some people were allowed to recall their past lives, both very old and modern. Similar cases have been documented on the Internet, as well as in books (including scientific journals). Understanding the concept of reincarnation and its mechanism of action will eliminate tribalism, envy, intolerance, racism, corruption,inhumanity of a person to a person and other various vices.

- Is reincarnation a mechanism of punishment, redemption, or redress for harm done?

- Reincarnation is the Grace given to us, people, by Almighty God. Almighty God is love, and God does not punish!

Part of our learning and maturation process is understanding and using divine laws. One of the unshakable laws of Creation is the law of sowing and reaping, or the law of punitive justice, or the law of Karma. This simple law means that what a person sows, he will reap. If you plant yams, you harvest yams, not rice. Therefore, if a person sows love, he will reap the love of others in full. Respectively. if a person shows malice towards his neighbor, then he should be expected to reap the same. Everything we do in our current life goes to the piggy bank of personal Karma for our next life.

All experiences (pleasant or not), if used correctly, should lead us to redemption and maturity, although, along with this, compensation for the harm caused is possible.

- Is reincarnation a medical doctrine? Is there a connection between the concept of reincarnation and genetics?

- Reincarnation refers to the Spirit (essence of a person). Medical science is currently mostly rational and deals mainly with the outer shell that the Spirit wears, that is, with the physical body.

However, medical science will develop to become integral, and then it will contain knowledge about the physical body, other bodies (for example, the astral), intellect and Spirit. Under these conditions, reincarnation will become one of the medical doctrines.

Genetics and reincarnation

The arrival of a person on earth (in order to gain experience) consists of three stages: procreation, incarnation, and birth. Procreation is essentially a biological process in which a male gamete (sperm) and a female gamete (egg cell) combine to form a body in which Spirit (Soul) will dwell. The genetic code is built into the body, and the Soul receives it from the biological parents.

In the afterlife, there are many human souls who strive to come to Earth in order to experience earthly life. Once the process of conception has taken place, many souls in the other world crowd around the pregnant woman, wanting to take possession of the forming body within her. Incarnation is the process by which one of the souls hovering next to the mother enters the growing body in the woman's womb. This usually happens around the middle of pregnancy, that is, in the fourth and a half (4 1/2) months of pregnancy. The formation of the physical body is biologically determined.

However, what determines the type and nature of souls that wander around a pregnant woman, as well as the nature of the Soul that ultimately takes this body for itself, is conditioned spiritually: mainly due to the reincarnation needs of the incoming Soul and its future mother, character and personal traits of the mother, as well as the characteristics of reincarnation companions and the environment. In fact, the mother and the environment attract a homogeneous Soul, but the final choice is made by the Soul itself. Thus, the human individual chooses his parents, biological sex, family, race, tribe, nationality, body type (size, shape, color, propensity to disease) in accordance with the highest spiritual good for himself.

The human soul chooses exactly what it needs to achieve spiritual maturity and redemption.

- Can you use the doctrine of reincarnation to improve your health and other life circumstances? And how can this be done?

- Yes, you can use the principles of reincarnation to improve your health and improve your life circumstances, if you understand that you have lived on Earth before, that this is not the first time you have lived on Earth.

If you realize that your current socio-biological status is part of your past reincarnation. If you understand that you yourself have chosen a body for yourself, along with its shortcomings and advantages. If you realize that how you live today will determine the character of your future incarnation. If you accept the fact that you are reaping what you sow - now, in the afterlife, or in your next incarnation. If you know about the law of attraction of homogeneous (similar) species. Finally, if you realize that your belonging to a particular family, community, tribe, race and country is not accidental.

I think there is no need to explain that:

- we must take care of our body properly;

- to show love and attention to one's neighbor;

- demonstrate acceptance and empathy for our fellow travelers;

- give up greed, selfishness and envy;

- to strive to improve and ennoble our society, being an example, and not an angry exposer of vices.

And then we learn that the Lord does not mock us, for He rewards everyone in accordance with his deeds at the appointed time. And most importantly, we will be able to express our sincere gratitude to the Almighty for the mercy sent down to us, regardless of our health or social and material status. Then we will be able to stay in a state of complete physical, social, mental and spiritual well-being, regardless of any weakness or flaw that exists in us.

“From sickle cell anemia and cancer to diabetes and hypertension, genes play a huge role in shaping the diverse health conditions of people. What place does reincarnation take in this process?

- We choose the body that we want to use on Earth, based on what we need for our spiritual maturity and self-development in our current earthly life.

Our current choice of a physical body is determined by the totality of the characteristics of our Soul in a previous life. If our Soul Plan or our current need does not require us to have any of these diseases, we will not take a physical body that has such a flaw. And even if we have an inclination, i.e. genetic predisposition, it may not manifest or may be corrected due to following our Soul Plan, as well as due to our current worldview, the nature of our personality and our environment.

- In the light of the theory of reincarnation, should you blame your parents, grandparents or yourself for the fact that someone in the family is a carrier of genetic disorders?

- We ourselves choose a body for our incarnation, so that it would in the best way help our spiritual development, which is the meaning of our existence on Earth. We shouldn't blame anyone.

Anyone with any genetic disease or abnormality should understand that he or she made the choice themselves before entering the physical body that developed in the womb of their future mother. If not a single soul entered the mother's body, the pregnancy would end in miscarriage. The Human Soul, choosing for itself a physical body with genetic disorders, needs it for its spiritual redemption, purification and self-improvement.

We must realize that Almighty God does not act by accident. He is Love and Justice. He gives us what is best for us at the moment. Instead of blaming ourselves, one should be grateful to the Almighty for such a gracious opportunity. Alternatively, continue the struggle for survival in the darker realms of Being. Everyone has this or that problem that they have to face. Even those without genetic disorders have other health or social adjustment problems that need to be dealt with.

Those who are associated with people suffering from a disease - genetic, infectious or treatable - as parents, relatives, neighbors, colleagues and guardians, i.e. doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals should not criticize or condemn anyone …

They must understand that their connection with a sick person is not accidental! They have something that can help alleviate a person's suffering. By giving sincere help, these people are freed from an even greater debt of karma. After all, by helping others, you are helping yourself many times. If people in helping professions do not provide conscientious help, they will not fulfill their spiritual duty and will have to reap the fruits of their actions at their appointed time - in the current or next reincarnation.

Let me tell you one true story. The story of a family in which the eldest son (now over 40) suffers from sickle cell anemia (genotype CC). As a child, he had severely occluded vessels, bone pain and hemolytic crises with several blood transfusions annually. One of his half-blood younger sisters had little, or rather, absolutely no sympathy for her older brother. She even acted as if her brother's illness was a heavy burden on her and their family. Her genotype was type AA. She got married and had children. Her second child (a girl) was often ill. An analysis of the child's genotype was done, and the doctors determined that her daughter's genotype was CC!

The girl's mother re-analyzed her own genotype in several laboratories and found that she was the carrier of the AC genotype! For ten years she believed in her erroneous genotype result. And now she is the mother of a child with sickle cell anemia. Maybe if she had shown more sympathy for her older brother, she would have been spared. This woman is lucky that she has to go through this lesson in the current incarnation. For most people, redemption begins when they reincarnate. And then these Souls begin to ask: "Why do I need this?"
