Baikal. Olkhon Island
Since ancient times, Lake Baikal has been considered a sacred place, abode of spirits. On the island of Olkhon, near the village of Khuzhir, there is a Shaman-rock (Cape Burkhan) - one of the nine shrines of Asia. The two-peaked rock is formed by crystalline limestone-marble, covered with red lichen. In the rock closest to the coast, there is a through cave, especially revered by the Buryats. Previously, shamanistic rituals were held in the cave, and later the "Altar of Buddha" was located there.
Only initiates were allowed to enter the cave. It is known that sacrifices to spirits were performed in it. Seidozero (in Sami "Seydyavvr" - "Sacred Lake") is a sacred Sami lake located in the Lovozero tundra of the Kola Peninsula. Travelers often note the positive energy of Seydozero - strength is quickly restored here, and peace and tranquility reign in the soul.
Here traces of ancient buildings and a stone observatory, the remains of giant runic inscriptions on the coastal rocks, as well as a gigantic 70-meter petroglyph were found.
