A strange phenomenon was observed this morning by Australians living on the north coast of Tasmania. When people went to Anthony Beach in the morning, a terrible picture appeared to their eyes - the entire coast was strewn with grind whales, most of which were no longer breathing
The news of the whales lying on the shore, which outwardly strongly resemble dolphins, quickly scattered along the coast and animal protection specialists and ordinary volunteers rushed there. They water the survivors of the grind in an attempt to save them from dehydration and sunburn.
To complicate matters, grinds are small but terribly heavy animals. Even several adults were unable to move them, so rescuers called special trailers ashore. As the site News24.com reports with reference to the representative of the local reserve Chris Arthur, as soon as the condition of the whales stabilizes, they will try to take these unlucky "suicides" to deep water.
This is not the first time that whales and dolphins have been thrown onto land. Apart from Australia, this sometimes happens on the New Zealand coast. Scientists cannot yet determine what drives these mammals to commit suicide.
According to the latest data, people managed to save 11 whales.
