"Magic circles" are called plots of land scattered across Africa of the corresponding shape, devoid, for some unknown reason, of any vegetation.
And although the question of the reasons for the emergence of circles remains unanswered, new research sheds some light on the process of their formation. Professor Walter Chinkel of the University of Florida claims that the circles have been growing throughout their existence, reaching 5 - 12 meters in diameter. The "life expectancy" of circles is from 24 to 75 years. After that, they again, as if nothing had happened, are filled with vegetation.
So far, Chinkel has advanced two theories. According to the first, "bald spots" are formed due to termite mounds, and according to the second, poisonous fumes that arise somewhere in the ground are to blame for everything.
Neither of these theories has been confirmed, so the origin of the "magic circles" is still a mystery.
