A resident of Yekaterinburg Natalya Semenova shared a very interesting story that happened to her grandmother Taisia.
… It was in the thirties of the last century. Natalia's future grandmother lived then in the city of Kasli (Chelyabinsk region), in her house, next to the old cemetery. Accustomed to the neighborhood of graves, she did not feel any superstitious fears or apprehensions towards them. By the way, this cemetery has been preserved to this day; on it you can see many cast iron figures and an old chapel on the main alley.
… The warm and calm September day has already passed the middle. Taisiya, at that time still a young girl, having coped with household chores, decided to visit and clean up the graves of her relatives. In a few minutes she was already entering the cemetery gate.
Along the central alley, Taisiya reached the chapel, also decorated with cast iron, crossed herself as usual and, turning to the side, continued on her way. All around was deserted, the silence broken only by the croaking of crows.
… Suddenly, it would seem, for no reason, the girl became very scared. Looking around, she saw that near her feet and along the path, fallen leaves snake - this is how the snow drifts in winter. This surprised and scared Taisia even more, because there was no wind at all!..
Meanwhile, the leaves were spinning stronger and stronger - and now they have turned into a real whirlwind. The girl's legs literally gave way from horror. Falling to her knees, she crawled along the ground towards the chapel. A meter-long column of leaves circled beside her, a howl, a hum, and - what was most terrible - someone's malicious giggle. Taisiya heard it very clearly …
The girl did not manage to get to her feet; she slowly crawled towards the chapel and kept repeating the prayers that she had learned from her mother. Her tongue twisted in horror, and her words were confused. And the whirlwind kept growing and intensifying … Having somehow reached the chapel, Taisia climbed onto the porch and burst into tears. And then she closed her eyes and began to recite all the prayers she knew. A giant funnel of leaves circled beside her, and there was a hum and laughter. … So it took about half an hour. Finally the whirlwind began to weaken, and then it disappeared altogether, there was silence. With difficulty getting to her feet, Taisiya trudged home. On the way from the churchyard, she never met anyone. The girl told the church priest about what happened to her.
