On the territory of the Harvard Forest in the United States, scientists at the University of Massachusetts discovered strange viruses, which they called giant or pandoraviruses. The fact is that these, obviously “guests of our planet,” have almost nothing to do with terrestrial microorganisms.
The viruses were discovered completely by accident. Scientists have been observing the above-named forest for several years in order to study the effect of global warming on the nature. And suddenly … it turned out that in this green oasis something really shocking lurks, clearly from among the anomalous and inexplicable phenomena from the point of view of the established views on the microcosm of our planet.
We, admits one of the university workers involved in the study of the Harvard Forest, eventually identified 16 new viruses - gigantic and amazing. In the desire to isolate microorganisms in order to understand how the rise in temperature on Earth affects their life, we found such "monsters" in this microcosm.
These "monsters" of the microcosm, scientists say, have complexly organized genetic information that mysterious viruses, among other things, can easily change. Such properties of pandoraviruses look so fantastic that researchers even began to talk about the alien origin of these microorganisms. It is possible that they were brought to Earth - either by meteorites, or by the aliens themselves. In any case, such viruses have never been encountered on Earth before. When they appeared and in connection with what, no one knows yet. Or maybe these are ancient viruses that have been conserved in the ice for a long time, but are now "waking up" due to global warming?..
