Scientists have long debated what caused the mass extinctions that our planet suffers on a regular basis. There is a scientific hypothesis that invisible killer planets are the cause of these cataclysms.

The Sun is believed to have a companion star. This is the star Nemesis, or the "Death Star", which periodically attracts pieces of ice rocks from the outskirts of the solar system and sends them towards the Earth.

Astronomers Daniel Whitmire, Albert Jackson, Mark Davis, Richard Mueller, and Pete Hut have conducted a study and stated that mass extinctions have occurred at regular intervals of 26 to 30 million years over the past 500 million years.

The reason may be the gravitational pull of Nemesis, which orbits the Sun in an orbit 1.5 light years from Earth, disrupting the Oort cloud - a cluster of icy asteroids that lies 0.8-3 light years beyond Pluto's orbit and is weakly bound by the Sun's gravity … It is the Oort cloud that is the source of the "long-period" comets that return to the inner solar system every two hundred years.

Nemesis should be a red or brown dwarf no larger than Jupiter. It is too far from the Earth and at such a distance it is difficult to see it even with the use of the most powerful telescopes.

Astrophysicist Adrian Melott of the University of Kansas and paleontologist Richard Bambach of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC, studied the fossils and confirmed that mass extinctions recur every 26-30 million years.

By combining all the latest data, paleontologists, astrophysicists and astronomers came to the conclusion that the waves of mass extinction should not be caused by Nemesis, but by the influence of another planet - Planet X.

Scientists have suggested that there is a solid planet five times more massive than Earth, which orbits in the solar system far beyond Neptune. This planet attracts comets, not from the Oort cloud, but from the closer Kuiper belt. This planet X is very dark and does not reflect light, which is why it is invisible to terrestrial telescopes.

Comet waves sent by Planet X can be the cause of global extinctions on Earth. It is worth noting that the time of the next cometary impact, which will cause a mass extinction, has already come and if the hypotheses of scientists are correct, very soon a deadly cosmic rain of meteorites, asteroids and comets will fall on the Earth.

Human civilization is completely unprotected from cosmic threats, but what we can do to prevent them is nothing.
