However, the secrets of the San Agustin Valley do not end there. In addition to stone sculptures, this place has another amazing object: the so-called source for washing the feet. A complex network of channels of various widths is located on the leveled surface of the rock. Small and large pools are connected by narrow grooves that meander between the stones. All this covers an area of about 300 m2. There are over thirty streams between the four main basins. The channels form a real maze. What does all this mean? The mystery of the source has given rise to many hypotheses. Some believe that it was a sacred source of foot washing, others see in this structure an altar, through the channels of which blood flowed. There is also a version that the labyrinth of streams and pools, located at different heights, was used in ancient times for cleaning metals.
Everything said about San Agustin relates even more to the mystery of the Chavin de Juantar temple in the Andes (Peru). To get there, you need to overcome the Kauish Pass, located at an altitude of 4178 m above sea level. On the other side of the pass, along the mountain slopes, there is a winding narrow road. Not far from the village of Machak, at an altitude of 3180 m, there are the ruins of the Chavin de Huantar temple. Nobody knows who and why once built this structure.
The best preserved part of the temple is called "El Castillo" (translated as "Castle"), although it has no analogy with the castle. It is a quadrangular building 73 m long and 70 m wide. Huge granite boulders, fitted to each other with millimeter precision, form rectangular outer walls that slope slightly inward. The higher, the more noticeable the imprint left on them by time. The main gate of the building faces east with compass accuracy. A stone beam 9 m long rests on two columns, on the sides of which are granite slabs. These slabs were once decorated with engravings, but atmospheric phenomena and vandals destroyed the filigree works of stone carving. In ancient times, El Castillo looked like a monolithic structure.
In front of its façade there is a quadrangular square, completely walled in the past. It is arranged in the form of terraces that rise towards the main gate. To the south and north of the area, there are platforms that have not yet been explored.
In general, the Chavin de Juantar cult building covers an area of 13 hectares. Very little information about him remains. It is 228 m long and 175 m wide. It has a front and courtyard with staircases pointing in all directions of the world, and under the rectangular square is a system of corridors, ventilation shafts and drainage tunnels - a precisely planned infrastructure.

It turns out that the complex was built out of nothing by some unknown people. Its appearance is like an explosion, since it is safe to say that the builders were not the Incas. Their structures look very different. According to scientists, Chavin de Juantar was a religious shrine, a place of pilgrimage for some mysterious people who once left these places. What kind of people they were, no one knows.
