In 1922, the murder of six people on the Ginterkaifeck farm shocked the whole of Germany. This terrible event turned out to be full of so many strange details that it remains unsolved to this day.
Andreas and Cecilia Gruber, their daughter Victoria with their two children, the youngest Cecilia and Joseph, lived on a farm near the forest. Together with them lived Maria Baumgartner, who had recently arrived at the newly vacated servant position. The previous girl left this strange place in a hurry, claiming that it is literally teeming with ghosts.
No one can say for sure what happened on the night of March 31, 1922, but someone lured almost the entire family into a barn and brutally killed everyone with an ax.
Only Joseph and Maria did not stay alive for long and slept peacefully in their beds. Later, the killer entered the house and killed them too. The forensic examination showed that little Cecilia was alive for some time after the attack. Also, forensic experts found that when she was dying, she tore out shreds of hair on her head with her own hands.
A few days later, the teachers sounded the alarm about the loss of little Cecilia. The bodies of all family members were found by neighbors. The police opened a criminal case, but all efforts were in vain: the killer was not found. And in the full of obscurity of the case, many new terrifying details appeared.
The neighbors recalled that just a few days before the murder, the head of the family, Andreas Gruber, mentioned one very strange circumstance that happened to him the day before. He claimed to have seen strange footprints in the snow leading from the forest to his doorstep. However, he never found traces from the house to the forest.
Later, the whole family heard strange sounds coming from the attic. It seemed that someone had penetrated, without being noticed, into the house and lived for several days in the attic, and then, for some reason, killed all family members. And just on the day when the bodies of family members were found, some neighbors clearly saw smoke from the chimney. Moreover, someone was feeding the cattle on the farm. One gets the impression that this someone specially stayed in the house after all the murders in order to take care of the household.

Until now, it is not possible to find answers to numerous questions: how many murderers were there, was it one person or were there several? What is the motive for the crime? How did the killer get into the house? How did the killer lure all the family members one by one into the barn? And finally, why, after all these terrible murders, did he stay on the farm and run the household?
This extremely strange murder at the Ginterkaifeck farm leaves more questions than answers. A chill runs down my spine at the thought that it is unlikely that we will ever find out what actually happened there.
