Climate recovery after global warming will take a million years, such are the conclusions of researchers from the University of Exeter (England), who set out to estimate how long our planet will recover from a large-scale "clogging" of the atmosphere with greenhouse gases.

Scientists have studied how similar events developed during the Jurassic period. According to the research results, they reported that the situation approximately corresponds to that which we regularly see in much smaller natural reservoirs, when they "bloom", and the fish living in them, being left without oxygen, dies.

The global process differs from the fate of an individual pond in that, naturally, it takes more time and does not look so dramatic: after all, an ocean-scale “starvation” is unlikely, we are talking about the fact that organic remains are increasing.

The most important difference is the effect on the climate. Ponds "bloom" in hot summer, and they cannot influence the weather. Globally, addiction is more complex. The more vegetation, the more greenhouse gases and, accordingly, the warmer. And the warmer - the more plants, etc.

It all ends with what experts call an anoxic event. Oxygen in the hydrosphere becomes noticeably (by percent) less, in some areas of the ocean and bottom waters - even less. The organic matter that gets there is buried, and after a while it becomes easier to breathe again on the purified and cooled Earth.
