Death, like life, is natural, although it does not evoke the most pleasant emotions in us. We think we know everything about death. But is it? And, how often have you heard the phrase: "They have already come for him." Who came and why?
There is an assumption that these are guides of souls who come at the appointed time to help the soul of the deceased move from this world to another, so that the soul does not get lost between our and the afterlife.
Doctors who work with elderly or hopelessly ill people talk about unusual things that happen to a person shortly before death. For example, patients begin to communicate with their long-dead relatives and see clear and colorful dreams. One or two days before death, such patients have a "transitional" facial expression that does not correspond at all to the living. Also, doctors notice that a kind of incomprehensible cold blows from people in a dying state. And children and pets even see something.

Every summer for school holidays, I went to the village to see my beloved grandmother. Grandmother was a kind and bright person, everyone in the village loved and respected her. I loved going with her to the forest and picking various berries and grass. At these moments, she told a lot of interesting things about living and dead water, about the owner of wild animals and forests, about brownies and mermaids … The legends were so interesting that it seemed that these images were about to rise alive before my eyes.
One evening my grandmother told me: “It's time for me to go to the next world. Longing for me there. I have already seen the guides. I didn’t believe her then, and thought: “Oh, you have to invent something like that!”.
One day I woke up in the middle of the night, I had a terrible dream. I don't even remember what I dreamed, but I was so creepy that I decided to go out into the yard to get some fresh air. Passing the grandmother's room, I looked through the open door, and … I was stunned with horror.

A clot of diffused black shadow, which looked like black smoke from burning rubber, spread over grandmother's bed. This shadow took on the most bizarre forms, sometimes it looked like human shadows. My body was bound by incredible fear, I wanted to believe that this was all I was dreaming.
I stood and looked at what was happening for fifteen minutes, maybe more. I gathered all my strength and reached out to the switch to turn on the light. A peaceful smile lit up my grandmother's face, but she was no longer breathing … Her watch was also silent, the hands stopped at 3:40.
I am already an adult and I got used to the idea that “guides to the afterlife” could just seem to me or dream. Only when I was burying my mother, my seven-year-old daughter said: "I saw black people come for my grandmother, they took her to a beautiful country."
