The Nevada Geyser, which is located 32 km north of the city of Gerlach, earned the rank of a local landmark only after the publication of one of its photographs in a well-known geographical magazine. If before that, even in Nevada, few people knew about its existence, now many photographers from all over the world want to personally capture all the picturesque splendor of this natural anomaly.
The geyser was named "fly" (fly from English. "Flying") because water jets fly out of it to a height of more than 15 meters. Its invisible beginning was laid back in 1916 during the construction of a well, which was used for its intended purpose for several decades.
In 1960, the geyser woke up from years of sleep. Hot water began to come to the surface and dissolve minerals, transforming them into small hills. Over time, the height of mini-volcanoes reached one and a half meters. The bacteria and algae that cover the surface of the mineral deposits have given the geyser a uniquely fantastic look.
This unusual creation of nature is located on the territory of a private ranch, so you have to watch it from behind the fence. They wanted to buy the land on which the geyser is located in order to make it open to the public, but were refused. To get closer to Fly, most tourists make arrangements with the ranchers, but there are those who sneak over the fence.
Photographer Christian Klepp, delighted with what he saw, said: “Such an amazing phenomenon could exist somewhere on Jupiter. The "flying" geyser takes us to the days of our planet's youth. Hot water, escaping from the bowels of the earth, steam and bacteria, all this gives us the opportunity to see what our planet looked like when life was just beginning to emerge on it."
