The republic has long been famous for all sorts of anomalous phenomena on the vastness of the Russian Internet. Yakut "horror stories" have a special charm and are very popular with users from other regions of the country. Many of the stories are not fiction, at least, they cannot be refuted. This collection contains the most popular mystical stories, with varying probability are reliable.
1. The Monster of Lake Labynkyr
The legend about a certain creature living in the cold waters of the Labynkyr Lake has long ceased to be a shtetl. Interest in this phenomenon is also shown outside the republic. Several times attempts were made to seriously search for traces of the existence of the "devil". However, despite a number of oddities, irrefutable evidence was still not found.
It all started with ancient legends. According to the stories of local residents, a monster of gigantic proportions lived in Labynkyr from time immemorial. Moreover, the creature had an aggressive disposition and sometimes attacked people and animals. For the first time, scientists became interested in the anomaly after the report of the geologist Vasily Tverdokhlebov in 1953. He then reported that a strange living object of large size was seen in the lake.
About ten years ago, the Seekers program organized an expedition that recorded an amazingly deep depression at the bottom of the lake. Many animal skulls and bones were found inside. Unfortunately, the expedition could not find anything more significant.

2. Valley of death in the upper Vilyui
There are many legends, mainly on entertainment sites, about a certain valley of Eluu Kerkechekh in the Mirny region of the republic. According to the texts written by eyewitnesses of different years, there is indeed anomalous terrain in the upper reaches of the Vilyui. During the 19th-20th centuries, metal boilers, dug into the ground, were repeatedly found here. According to local legends, these boilers have incomprehensible properties. Some of them are large, so much so that inside them there are entire communications with corridors and rooms. It is warm inside the boilers even in winter, however, if you spend several nights here, you can get abnormal radiation and die for unknown reasons.
According to eyewitnesses, the boilers gradually disappear into the ground, sinking under their own weight into the permafrost. The last more or less reliable certificate of boilers dates back to 1989. Attempts to find them were made, but not a single expedition was able to find anything resembling cauldrons.
3. The lost city of Zashiversk
Founded by pioneers in the middle reaches of the Indigirka in 1639, the city of Zashiversk by the beginning of the 19th century had lost all its inhabitants and became a ghost town. According to the most widespread theory, this settlement was the victim of thoughtless extermination of fur-bearing animals in the area. Existing due to the exchange of fur products, Zashiversk soon fell into decay. By 1820, according to sources, at most 15 people lived in the city.
One of the main reasons for the decline of Zashiversk could have been a smallpox epidemic that swept large areas of Siberia at the end of the 18th century. According to the Yakut legend, despite the warnings of the local shaman, the Zashivertsy opened a chest that had come from nowhere, inside which there were infected things. In vain they tried to get rid of their things - the disease did not spare almost anyone. From more than five hundred of the population by the end of the epidemic, only 40 people remained. They could not further develop the city and left it.
In addition, there is a legend that when, during the years of Soviet power, attempts were made to excavate at the site of the city, two scientists died, infected with smallpox spores from the remains of Zashivertsy.
4. The ghost of a girl on the Pokrovsky tract
A popular urban legend says that in the early 1990s a certain girl decided to go from Pokrovsk to Yakutsk and caught a ride. Instead of delivering the passenger to the capital of the republic, the driver raped her, beat her and threw her naked into the street in the winter cold. The girl was able to find the strength to get to the traffic police post, but the employees sleeping inside the building did not wake up and did not let her in. As a result, she froze to death.
The credibility of history is rather difficult to establish - as you know, in the nineties, not such things happened. However, a feature of this case was the numerous reports of a ghost of a girl voting at night on approximately the same section of the route. In addition, the closure of the traffic police post is also associated with the ghost - they say, nightly knocks on the door of the post so intimidated the traffic cops that they decided to move.
5. Headless ghost on the old road
Less well known is another ghost. According to eyewitnesses, in the 1950s, it appeared on an old rural road near the village of Suola in Megino-Kangalassky district. The spirit had the image of a man of enormous stature, without a head. Dressed in old rags, the headless was not an ethereal ghost and is quite real
Several times he was seen running after cars. One motorcyclist barely dodged his arms on a narrow path. The women picking lingonberries ran into him very close, but for some unknown reason, he did not touch them - one of them fainted from the unbearable cadaveric stench exuded by the walking dead.
The apparitions of the terrible ghost ended as suddenly as they began. Despite the seeming absurdity of the story, the author is inclined to trust it, because he personally communicated with one of those who saw the headless ghost.
