It is already known that a person, being under the influence of any hallucinogens, is capable of projecting hallucinations onto a photographic film - the images become apparent even for “unbiased” equipment. The phenomenon is being studied, but so far it has not been possible to find any intelligible explanation.
The question remains insoluble: does a person create these images or are they independent and appear to him? Pliny the Elder wrote: "Let the wine bring joy, but not call the one who is stronger than you." That is, the Romans believed that something could appear to a person. Isn't this something that the photographic film now fixes? And not only photographic film.
Petersburg psychic Pyotr Zarubin, famous in the 1990s, demonstrated an interesting video recording at his seminars. Later, this tape made a splash at a conference in San Francisco, where our former compatriot lives. Zarubin's comments on her are curious.
Crumpled hat
Private business started in the 1990s. Guarding it, in some places, video cameras were installed, which were rare at that time. Petr Zarubin was in charge of their service. He regularly came to the office above the basement on Vyazovaya Street near the Krestovsky Bridge, where there was a wine establishment during the NEP, and now it was again a column of "fatherland smoke." And at the entrance for the entourage stood Mitrich, an old man of exorbitant longevity with a monocle. He was already well over 70. Quite bored, he went up to Zarubin, looked at the visitors on the monitor: sort of like in a movie and like on duty.
Once it seemed that Mitrich was watching this "movie" with particular interest, as if checking something … Zarubin himself, with his heightened perception of the world, sometimes felt that something was beginning to happen invisibly below. However, he thought, the house is old, and you never know what echoes of events can be caught.
Once, when Zarubin especially felt the "invisible", and Mitrich was also staring at the screen especially intently, Peter asked: "And what is actually happening?"

- Do you see the one in the rumpled hat? For a long time already has been waiting for Lesha, a former regular of ours - he has not dropped in for a month. Now he is looking closely at others.
That's right, there is one on the screen. The hat is crumpled, the face under it cannot be seen. He came close to someone … Looks like a pickpocket. And he does not see him point-blank. But Zarubin himself did not see it until Mitrich indicated. We ought to call the guards. But Mitrich held back:
- Uh, Petya, don't fuss, wait at the button to press, otherwise you'll be a fool. First go down into the hall and see what's what.
And in the hall everything seems to be on the monitor. The people are the same, they are standing there, but there is no Hat. Did you manage to leave? Returning, Zarubin looked at the screen. But this one, in a crumpled hat, did not go anywhere.
- And you, Petya, wanted to call the guards. You ask - who is it? You are a psychic with us - you and answer. This is some kind of essence. In Russia, such from time immemorial are called "wine demon". And here, under the New Economic Policy, there was a wine establishment. Apparently, he was hiding within these walls, and now they woke him up. I have been working here for a long time, and even without your TVs I learned to see him, he even greets me …
Zarubin heard about such entities, but did not think that he could see. He even had to relieve his addiction, when a man of a practical nature and worthy of all respect suddenly “went into excess”. But Zarubin did not know that the dark energy of intemperance can have a visual embodiment and that it can be seen, that it has a "face" … Although the face just could not be seen.

Mitrich continued:
- I, too, did not manage to make out a face. Either the shadow from the hat, or the dregs of tobacco smoke … I think that maybe he doesn't have any face? The demon is a demon, why does he need a face? And where does it come from is also a question. I’m standing at the door, and I’ve never seen him go in or out. He appears only if I turn away. And so, it happens, you turn away, and you don't feel like turning back: even though there are people around, they don't see him, which means that I'm still alone with him. Later I realized that this demon did not go anywhere. Where should he go? It is present all the time, only not always visible.
Zarubin turned the tape back to see how the Hat appeared. Here visitors are standing, moved into the company, but moved apart - and he is already among them. On another cassette, it just appeared from a smoky corner … And by the evening it seemed to dissipate, disappeared behind a curtain of tobacco.
- Have you heard, Petya, the saying - who is lucky? A child, a fool and one who is tipsy. The child, of course, is kept by his very future. A fool he is a fool - who needs him? But the one who is tipsy is guarded by the demon. After all, the demon depends on a person, and therefore protects him. If something happens to a person, you will have to look for another. Here he sometimes averts trouble. Somehow Lesha was driving a taxi … The driver was beaten, but he should have something. Traffic cops are not very surprised at such things. And Lesha does not come in now, so the devil is toiling. Looks like he's looking for another Lesha.
Having listened to these unscientific arguments, Zarubin estimated Mitrich's IQ by eye. It seems to be acceptable, and it looks accordingly … This is how the ancient sages were portrayed: Kalmyk, of indefinite age.
Well-groomed gentleman
But scientific explanations for many of the phenomena are simply missing. Zarubin himself performed a certain experiment, which science does not provide an explanation. A person put into a trance is offered water in a glass, but it is suggested that alcohol is. And, oddly enough, the subject remains tipsy, even after coming out of trance. Or vice versa: if you manage to convince a person that there is water in a glass of alcohol, he will remain sober, despite the presence of alcohol in his blood.
Zarubin shared with Mitrich that when he conducted such experiments, it seemed to him that he was playing with some incomprehensible force, and that it was not so much a chemical effect on the body as an unknown but controlled energy, which under certain conditions able to obey a person.
- You, Petya, swaggered over the devil - caused by your strength or, conversely, did not allow to the person. You dabbled with him. Although the demon himself likes to pamper: for example, two comrades will come here, both quite moderate in use. Such prospects for him do not represent any. But there is an opportunity to mock. And he chooses - over whom. Whom he chooses is almost immediately noticeable: just now, both were in order and suddenly one and the bast does not knit. Such a joke! At the same time, the other immediately sober up, because he is now responsible … Before a responsible comrade he always fails. But if you tell this to your clever guys, Petya, they won't believe you.
But Zarubin, taking the cassettes, told at his seminars that "someone in a crumpled hat" began to appear more and more often, after a day or two, and no longer wandered around the hall, but stood behind some well-groomed gentleman - such that with him, it would seem, he and not get along. However, he came closer and closer, on the monitor it became more and more faded and once did not appear.
This gentleman was already walking constantly. After a while Lesha also dropped in. The gentleman, previously well-groomed, and now covered in gray stubble, turned around and looked at Lesha - he looked evilly and not with his own eyes, as if someone else was looking from him!..
Zarubin invited at his seminars to meditate with Mitrich. In any explanation, even an exhaustive one, there is always something unexplained: and the psychic summed up that the time will come when some demon, having appeared, will take off his rumpled hat in front of science.
