This happened to Sonny Graham, a 69-year-old American. He was a cheerful and enterprising person, distinguished by rare luck. Luck did not change him on the cardiac surgeon's table: a donor heart was found quickly (it belonged to 33-year-old Terry Kotl, who committed suicide by shooting himself in the head with a gun), the operation was successful, the rehabilitation period was short. After a couple of months, Sonny was discharged from the clinic and even looked younger.
Soon, Graham, a wealthy widower, contacted the donor's family to thank him. He began to write letters to the widow of the Cauldron, 39-year-old Cheryl. An affair began between them, and they got married. And then Mrs. Graham became a widow again - her new husband shot himself under circumstances similar to the suicide of the first. Friends say that Sonny Graham did not suffer from depression, and they are at a loss as to what could have caused his voluntary departure from life. There was nothing that could somehow explain the fatal decision of the always cheerful and balanced Sonny.
Experts explain this phenomenon by the theory of "cellular memory". It is based on the assumption that cells remember and repeat the character traits of the previous host. Renowned professor of psychology and medicine Gary Schwartz, who founded the Human Energy Systems Laboratory at the University of Arizona, has written several books on this topic. According to him, at least 10 percent of people who have undergone organ transplants have mental changes. “There have been cases,” notes Gary Schwartz, “when a patient after transplantation completely changed his eating habits and lifestyle. As it turned out, the new behavioral traits were characteristic of the donors from whom the organs were obtained.
A 36-year-old woman received a heart and lung transplant from a 20-year-old girl who died in an accident while hurrying to a date.
