A Cambodian Mowgli woman, found in January 2007, returned to the forest without being able to adapt to human society in three years
Rochom Pngien disappeared in 1989 at the age of eight after spending 18 years in the jungle, and after unsuccessful attempts to adapt to human society, disappeared into the forest.
During the three years of her stay among the people, Rochom Pngien could not learn either the Khmer language or the local dialect. She did not learn to walk, continued to crawl or waddle hunched over, refused to wear clothes and several times tried to go back to the forest.
Rochom's miraculous find in 2007 and attempts to educate her about life in human society intrigued Cambodia, where the Mowgli woman is also called the “half animal girl” due to her wild appearance and inability to speak a human language, instead of which she made sounds more reminiscent mooing and roaring of animals.
The father blames the forest spirits for the disappearance of his daughter. He also turned to a fortuneteller for help in his search. The sorcerer will have to pay a significant fee. This is one wild buffalo, one pig, one chicken and four jugs of wine. Without such an offering, the daughter will not be found, the sorcerer claims.
