At present, scientists in different countries of the world are trying to find scientific explanations of the phenomenon of prayer. Research has shown that there is a clear, definite connection between the state of prayer and what is happening at that moment in the human brain. Usually our life is centered around ourselves, whether we are looking for God in our souls, a place in life or a position in society. We cannot forget for a moment about ourselves, about our problems and desires. But fortunately, there are people who incessantly and selflessly pray for others.

Prayer does not change the rules, but brings them in line with them. / D. McKenna /

And these prayers gain real and effective power. Professor Newbird, a leading neurophysiologist at Thomas Jefferson University, was engaged in finding out what exactly is happening at the time of such an action. For over ten years he has conducted unique experiments in scanning the brains of people immersed in deep prayer. Most of his experiments are based on "photographing" the brain. This technology is called single photon emission computed tomography.

The experiment involved religious people who have prayed daily for 15 years. They were Tibetan monks and sisters of the Franciscan monastery. Imaging was performed before and after prayer.

Scientists were amazed by the brain scans of worshipers In all subjects, prayer simply turned off the parietal lobe of the brain, which is responsible for orientation. This means that a person loses touch with the physical world and goes beyond it.

The first steps in such studies were made in 1986 by the neurophysiologist V. Slezin. He was the first to record the radiation from the brain of praying clergy. The sensational results were enthusiastically received at an international psychiatric symposium, and in the Soviet Union Slezin was almost fired from the institute.

With the help of instruments, he recorded that during prayer, obvious brain activity practically disappears - it decreases dozens of times. The waking adult brain operates at a frequency of about 12 Hz. But during the prayer time in Slezin's laboratory, an activity of only 3 Hz was recorded, which corresponds to a state of unconsciousness. It is interesting that the baby's brain works with the same frequency, exactly 3 Hz.

The famous saying "Be like children …" immediately comes to mind. Apparently, this is not just a beautiful metaphor or poetic image, but a true tool that everyone can use. Research continues in many laboratories around the world and interest in them is growing all the time. The most famous scientist, Albert Einstein, once said: “The most beautiful and deepest feeling that we can experience is a mystical experience. It is this that is the driving force of true science. " Prayer translates human brain waves into a special range of radiation, due to which a state of oneness with all existence is achieved.
