My grandfather died at the age of 78, he bequeathed the apartment to me. This spacious one-bedroom apartment was located on the ground floor in an old building, on a quiet street in the city center.

He lived simply. Not that he earned poorly, he did not consider it necessary to change anything, everything suited him. He also loved his wife very much - my grandmother, who died nine years earlier. And in memory of her, he tried not to throw things away.

The apartment has been furnished with old furniture purchased in the 60s. Everything is old, but good quality. He also had an old natural wood-framed mirror. This mirror hung in his room.

Grandfather often sat in his room opposite this mirror and smoked his favorite, and unbearable by everyone around, cigarettes without a filter. He smoked through the window that overlooked the courtyard. He used to gaze out of that window for hours. What did he find in the deserted courtyard?

When my grandfather died, we made a small rearrangement in the apartment. There was no place for the old mirror. We didn't throw it away and hid it in the basement.

My family did not need living space, so the apartment was empty. A year after the death of my grandfather, I decided that I would rent the apartment. My tenants turned out to be household people, not like me. Inna was constantly preparing supplies for the winter, so she asked if it was possible to store supplies in the basement. With a clear conscience, I handed over the keys to the basement to the guests of the apartment.

I come once for a fee, and Inna says:

- Listen, there is an old mirror in the basement. Can I put it in the apartment, it's big, you can see it at full height.

Am I sorry ?! So the antiques came in handy. It's good that they didn't throw it in the trash. Inna took the mirror from the basement and put it in the same room, only against a different wall.

I come for money in two months. It was December and it was getting dark early. Inna was late at work and asked to wait for her. There was no one in the apartment. I opened the door, and as I searched for the switch to turn on the light, it seemed to me that a vague hunched shadow ran into the room. I felt cold with fear. I also smelled a strange smell in the apartment, very familiar, but I could not remember where and when I felt it.

When Inna returned home, she calmly told me that she had seen this shadow, and both of her daughters saw it too. She talked about this so calmly, as if she had lived with ghosts all her life! And the smell of cigarettes does not bother her at all, let the neighbors smoke for themselves.

"Exactly, this is the smell of cigarettes without a filter" - I suddenly remembered. I went into the room where the mirror hung, and there this smell was even stronger.

While Inna was preparing dinner in the kitchen, I went into the room where the mirror was hanging and spoke out loud:

- Old, what are you trying to achieve? Let people live in peace?

I came to the apartment a month later. I ask Inna:

- Well, how does your grandfather wander around and smoke?

- Everything walks, - Irina answers, - and the smell, you yourself can smell it. You know, it doesn't seem to interfere, but somehow it's unpleasant for me. Can I call the priest?

And then it dawned on me - a mirror! We took the old mirror back to the basement and set it up against the wall with the reflective part. After that, the grandfather and the smell of tobacco smoke did not return.

It was most likely not a ghost, but an energy clot. The old mirror has absorbed the energy and habits of its owner for many years. And now it began to reflect all this: old habits, contours, smells. However, this can happen not only with mirrors. Things, especially loved ones, are able to absorb the energy of their owner, and after a while release it.
