The world of mysticism and the mysterious is something ghostly or quite real … You can see this by meeting the Transcarpathian Ivan Klovanich. At first glance, this is an ordinary person who lives in the village of Boronyavo, Khust district
From his fellow villagers, he allegedly does not differ in anything special. However, it has something that is not given to every mortal: it has the gift of spells for reptiles.
Even children in Boronyav know Ivan Alekseevich. After all, there is practically no courtyard where he would not have to visit at least once in his life. And it is not surprising, because the village itself is located under the forest, and in the summertime all the evil spirits from there crawl into the courtyards of the Boronyavites.
“Mystical abilities came to me by chance,” says Ivan Alekseevich. “It was in the spring of 1983. I went into the forest for the bean poles, and was about to return home when I saw a ball under my feet. I pushed him and realized that it was a snake. She got up and already wanted to attack me, then I said: “Let us part with you in an amicable way”. The reptile suddenly turned around and crawled away in the opposite direction, but after a few seconds I heard a rustle behind me. I returned, and there was a whole nest of snakes … I then threw the bundle on my shoulders and began to leave quickly, but they did not lag behind - they crawled after me … So they chased me for more than a kilometer, crawled on the ground from all sides, and escorted me to the end of the forest."
After this incident, Ivan Klovanich decided to look for a person who knows how to conjure a snake. He says he realized that all this happened to him for a reason. Then friends advised me to go to Khust, where one old grandfather allegedly lived, who knew how to communicate with reptiles.
“I was looking for that person for three days: I went from house to house, asking people,” my interlocutor says. “And when he found him, he told his story and asked him to give me the gift. He ordered to maintain the fast and then come to him again. On the day when nature allowed this ritual to be performed (and, by the way, there is only one such day per year), we went out onto a low hill. The grandfather says: “I will dictate words to you once. If you remember - well, no - then you cannot learn. " Imagine, at school I could not learn a poem, I read it ten times, but there was no sense … But I heard these words, I immediately remembered it. Grandfather told how you can drive away snakes from the house, how to call them, how to save a person from being bitten. There are 31 sacred words for each ritual. Everything is accompanied by prayer. The ritual begins with the words: "God help …". And the rest cannot be pronounced unnecessarily."
Ivan Alekseevich always conducts the ritual in front of the icon or in the open-air courtyard. He says that in order to save a person or animal from a bite, you need to know the name of the bitten one. In two hours, prayer begins to work. Then a person needs to sleep, rest.
“The biggest problem is not when the snake bites, but when their nest starts up in the yard or house,” he explains. - Once there was such a case: a woman from the village of Krivoye came to me and asked: “Ivan, help me, otherwise we will disappear. Wherever we look, snakes are everywhere: on the refrigerator, under the bed, in the attic, under the blanket, "- I then went to them and began to command the snakes to leave the yard, but they did not listen. Then I remembered the order of my teacher:" If snakes do not want to listen, you have to fast for one day. “As the ritual read a second time, snakes began to crawl out of the yard. There was no one left in a day."

Ivan Klovanich advises not to kill snakes, even if they crawl into the yard. Because then other reptiles will avenge their "relatives." To be convinced of this, I remembered another incident from my life.
“Last year they brought me to a village where the snake settled in the house … I just entered the yard, immediately realized that the hostess had killed the snake a few days before. I say to her: “You killed one bastard, and the second entered the house, also brought the nest behind you. Now they will take revenge on you, "because snakes are the most vengeful creatures. Fortunately, that time, too, we managed to successfully escort the nest of reptiles out of the house into the forest."
The man says that all snakes harm livestock that graze near the forest. A reptile can die from a bite. Therefore, in summer Zmelelov has a hot time: almost every day, fellow villagers call Ivan Alekseevich to help the animals.
In addition to all the spells, the Boronyav can also attract reptiles. But he does not use this forbidden ritual.
