At Eurovision 2020, Russia will be represented by the Little Big group, Channel One said. For those who do not know who it is …

"A cocktail of punk, pop music and rave, which now dominates the dance floors of Russia and Europe," - this is how the press service of the First Channel presented the Little Big group. Indeed, the videos of the group on YouTube gain tens and hundreds of millions of views, and their songs are heard from almost every iron. And now, after the news that Little Big will go to the Netherlands in May, Runet literally squeaks with delight:

“I have a feeling that my dream has come true”, “I am delighted”, “Now I will watch Eurovision”, “It's time to watch their amazing videos!” - is replete with Twitter and media news feeds.

Who did not represent our country at the highly prestigious Eurovision Song Contest - and the singer Alsou, who later bought voices on the children's Voice for her daughter, and lesbians from Tatu, and glamorous Dima Bilan with Sergey Lazarev (both twice) … But despite all the pop cuteness, the Russian representatives did not manage to outshine the shocking transvestites and freaks from more "civilized" countries. However, now with Little Big we have every chance. Absurdity, obscenities from the stage, naked genitals in clips are their calling card. And at the same time, and a pass to the hearts of the European audience.

So, we abstract from the general joyful hysteria and remember what the St. Petersburg group Little Big is famous for.

Creative debut: a song about stereotypes about Russians, where they drink vodka and abuse bears

It all started with a 2013 video called “Every Day I'm Drinking”, where stereotypes about Russians are rather harshly played out. Men in "adidas", with chains around their necks, stretched T-shirts, "drunks" and tattoos, broken porches of "Khrushchev", scenes of constant vodka libations and copulations with bears - this is an incomplete list of the clip's entourage.

Promotional video:

Words are also unpretentious and simple. We cannot cite them entirely due to obscenity, but most of the song repeats the phrase “I drink every day”, as is already clear from the title, as well as “No future, no money”, “Our country is deep …, but I love it.

The members of the group themselves say that in this way they "laugh at Europe" and prove to the whole world that "Russian guys" are "not shit."

However, in the comments under the video, they took it not as a joke, but as a statement of the terrible and terrible Russian reality. “When they started repeating over and over again:“No future, no rich”, it became sad”, “Since when did they start filming documentaries?”, “Every day I am drunk and there is no future, no money, this is Russia - brilliant phrases - that's what users write.

They chose a successful position, you won’t say anything. For Russophobes, this is a banter over Russian reality, and for patriots, it is a banter over European stereotypes about Russia. They pleased everyone and went on.

Alcoholism, "big dick", copulation with a rocket and other "masterpieces"

The song about the stereotypes about Russians was “People Shaval”, and the group continued their work, filming new extravagant videos. The song “Skibidi” brought huge success to Little Bigo: the verses are an invitation to have sex, and the chorus is a series of interjections.

What else did the musicians sing and shoot about, who will represent Russia at Eurovision?

The song “We will push a button” is a multiple repetition of the phrases “We will push the button”, “Nuclear bomb! Big Badabum "and" We All Deserve It."

The song "Lolly Bomb" is a declaration of love to a bomb. Throughout the video for this song, an actor who looks like DPRK chairman Kim Jong-un goes on dates with a nuclear missile, kisses it and even has sex, then it is launched into the sky, and he finds himself another rocket.

The song "Go bananas" encourages you to be like a banana man and go crazy. In addition, there is no more informational load in the text, except for "nana-nana-nana na-nana, nana-nana-nana na-nana", repeated many, many times.

The song "Give me your money" is another anthem to stereotypes about Russia. Here the lyric hero offers to try "his booze", talks about his empty and dirty pockets, demands to give him his money and touch his body.

The song "Antipositive" is about the fact that "half of our people" live in depression. The plot of the clip: a gymnast prepares for exercises on the horizontal bar, and then performs them, using the man's sexual organ instead of the latter.

The song "Big Dick" is perhaps the most scandalous in the group's highly intellectual creativity. Here, throughout the song, the phrase “My penis is very big” is repeated, and in the video, this text is provided with appropriate illustrations.

This, in fact, is the essence of the Little Big group. Half of the texts are completely meaningless and built on absurdity. Their popularity can be explained only by the fact that the rhythms "swing", and the most simplified words are quickly remembered.

But the other part of Little Big's creations - what the band's frontman calls "banter over world pop culture" or over Western stereotypes about Russia, is not so unambiguous. You can, of course, explain this by the wit of the authors and a subtle understanding of the Russian soul, but a much more likely explanation is an excellent knowledge of the basics of marketing.

What do the audience "bite" at? For everything unusual, for sex (which is in abundance in the clips of "Little Big"), for aggression - it is also enough, although it is served under the sauce "banter". The leader of Little Big himself admitted in an interview that his goal is to make "world viruses", viral content - that is, something that will gain popularity as the virus spreads rapidly. The meaning, the idea are not important - only the hype.

So, perhaps, one can agree with the journalist Dmitry Smirnov, who said:

The stupid, outrageous and hype group is a worthy participant in the competition, among the winners of which are homosexual Duncan Lawrence, transvestite Conchita Wurst and fat feminist Neta Barzilai. Our answer is meaningless and merciless.
