The Chinese coronavirus, which caused the COVID-19 pandemic, persists for hours or days in airborne particles (aerosols) and on surfaces. The resistance of the virus was determined by scientists from the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the University of California at Los Angeles and Princeton University. This was announced in a press release on MedicalXpress.

Researchers compared the environmental impacts of SARS-CoV-2 and SARS-CoV-1, which cause severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). Scientists have simulated getting a virus from an infected person on various surfaces at home or in a hospital. It has been determined how long the virus remains active in these environments.

SARS-CoV-2 is stored in aerosols for up to three hours, on copper surfaces - up to four hours, on cardboard - 24 hours, and up to two to three days on plastic and stainless steel.

Unlike SARS-CoV-1, most secondary transmission of SARS-CoV-2 does not appear to occur in a healthcare setting. However, healthcare facilities are also vulnerable to the introduction and spread of SARS-CoV-2. People infected with SARS-CoV-2 can spread the virus with no visible symptoms.

And here you can see a map of the spread of the coronavirus.
