By the way, we note that there are many mysterious lakes, popularly called devil's or shaitan-reservoirs, on Earth, but some of them have special ominous properties. These include Shaitankol - Devil's Lake of the Karaganda region of Kazakhstan. Only the most daring and reckless explorers and tourists go to it. A similar trip to Shaitan Lake was made not so long ago by a group of extreme sportsmen from Astana under the leadership of Ersain Shygaev.
Legends
Newspapers wrote about the mysterious Lake Shaitankol in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Since all devilry happened in its vicinity and people disappeared, in 1905 it was decided to consecrate the reservoir, and then rename it Holy. However, this turned out to be not so easy. During the prayer service, suddenly, as if from nowhere, a terrible whirlwind flew in, knocking down the people gathered for prayer. There is also a legend according to which once the famous Kazakh hero Er Targyn spent the night on the shore of a mysterious reservoir. At night he was awakened by a naked girl of unprecedented beauty, and lured into the lake. In the reservoir itself, a beautiful stranger suddenly turned into a terrible old woman, who dug her claws into the young man and dragged him into the depths. However, the hero coped with the witch, smashed her head with his fist, climbed to the shore and threw the old woman's dead body back into the water, after which she immediately came to life and began to threaten Er Targyn.
But this is a hero! And ordinary people both disappeared and continue to disappear without a trace in the vicinity of the damned reservoir.

Lake without a bottom
There is also a legend that Lake Shaitankol has no bottom. This is what the extremals of the group of Ersain Shygaev decided to check in the first place. Having swam in an inflatable boat to the middle of the reservoir, they began to lower the load on a rope three hundred meters long. The self-made lot went completely under the water, never reaching the bottom.
After that, the young people remembered that the local residents had warned them that it was impossible to swim in the Devil's Lake, it is bottomless, and the waters in it are dark and dangerous. Dumbfounded by the bottomlessness of the reservoir, hastily pulled the load out of the water, the extremals nevertheless did not rest on this. Ersain Shygaev, as an experienced driver, grabbed a scuba gear, and therefore sank under the water. The water, he recalls, in the lake was crystal clear, the bottom was very beautiful and welcoming, but in the middle of the reservoir a terrible abyss gaped, over which the driver did not dare to swim.
Stopping at the edge of the cliff, Ersain gazed into the abyss for some time, when he suddenly saw the back of a huge monster, either a whale, or some other monster, which only for a moment flashed and disappeared into the darkness again. In fear, the extreme athlete pulled the rope, that is, he gave a signal to the guys on the boat to be urgently lifted. And at this time, out of nowhere, oxygen stopped flowing from the cylinders. Fortunately, it was shallow in this place, and the guys pulled out their leader healthy and unharmed, however, with a gray strand on his head. Having checked all the equipment on the shore, Shygaev did not find any flaws in it - oxygen was supplied normally …
Horrible night
The last night on the bank of the Devil's Lake turned out to be so mysterious and scary. Ersain woke up in the middle of the night with the feeling that someone was near his tent. He soon realized that outside this someone was breathing heavily and shifting from foot to foot. The brave and healthy extreme man was seized with such horror that further he even vaguely remembers how he jumped out of the tent headlong and rushed where his eyes were looking. And all around was a thick, completely unnatural fog. Once at the edge of the forest, the group leader calmed down a little and then, to his surprise, found his comrades trembling.
As they said, they were awakened by a strange noise coming from outside. Looking out, the guys saw that a strange shoot, black and clearly alive, very similar to a snake, stretched towards the tent of their leader, only it hung in the air and snaked as if from nowhere. Without agreeing, the friends rushed out of the tent, not understanding where and why they were running. And so we ended up at the edge …
Epilogue
Already in Astana, Ersain Shygaev's group processed all the data received from the expedition, then invited experts in the paranormal, for example, Ada Yermolina, who is a member of the Union of Russian Magicians. According to the psychic, the wormhole or funnel discovered by the guys in the middle of Lake Shaitankol is, most likely, a gateway to a parallel world, from where anything and anyone can enter here. Moscow psychics advised Kazakh extremals to no longer arrange such experiments, so as not to expose themselves to mortal risk.
