Near the border with the Irkutsk region, located along the Vilyui River in Yakutia, is the Vilyui reservoir. On the north side of the reservoir, local residents say, there is an anomalous zone, which they nicknamed Yelyuya Cherkechekh, which means "Valley of Death" in Yakut.
What are these boilers
On the north side of the reservoir, 8 huge boilers made of an unknown alloy were found long ago.
The surface of the metal is very rough, resembling sandpaper. Their origin, exact age and purpose remain a mystery. They have been lying here for more than one hundred years, but during this time they have not oxidized or rusted.
These are the lost cauldrons. No one doubts that they exist, but no one succeeded in photographing or filming them. Only drawings, compiled from eyewitness accounts and photographs of places where the boilers may be located, have survived.

People who have visited these places speak of their mystery. Interestingly, birds are not heard or seen here at all. For some reason, they fly around these places. But the grass, bushes and trees are higher and denser here than in the surrounding area.
Cauldrons are mentioned in legends about heroes and giants. Memories of them have been preserved in geographical names: the Olguydah river, translated from Yakut, sounds like "where the boilers are located." One of the places where a huge cauldron was seen is the Agly Timirnit River (from the Yakut word for “The Big Cauldron Drowned”).
One of the legends says that long ago, when the Tungus lived here, a ship descended from the sky, from which a bright light and a lot of noise emanated. After that everything was covered with haze. When the haze cleared, the inhabitants saw a huge round cauldron on the ground. Others argue that it was a tall, rounded structure, which then descended into the ground. Allegedly, there were even daredevils who climbed the roofs of these buildings and looked inside through the hole. There they saw an endless staircase, where it led, they could not see it.
According to other recollections, people tried to explore the boilers until they finally went underground. After that, healthy and young, they languished before our eyes and died.
Boiler researchers
In 1877, Richard Maack wrote an essay about the coppers of the Yelyu Circassians, and the whole world learned about this place. In the book, he collected not only local legends, but also eyewitness accounts who noted a number of unusual phenomena occurring in places near the boilers. It was especially warm in this place, and travelers stayed here for the night and just to warm up. But invariably over time, everyone noted a deterioration in health and frequent illnesses.
Here, in the "Valley of Death", there are many earthen embankments, it is not clear where they came from. There is an assumption that these are peculiar mounds, formed on the site of structures that have gone underground, similar to which were described by local residents hundreds of years ago.
Ivan Mackerle, a Czech explorer, organized an expedition in which he decided to explore the area with boilers from above. Using a paraglider, in 2006, he found several regular circles on the surface of the earth. In his opinion, it was here that they sank.
The members of the expedition explored this area on foot and found something sticking out of the ground - hard, cold, round in shape. When they began to examine this object, all the researchers felt unwell, many began to lose consciousness. The expedition had to be stopped and returned. People were examined, but the doctors did not find anything serious with their health.
Versions about the origin of the boilers
There are many versions. The first, the most common, is the basing of an alien civilization in these places. Others associate the appearance of cauldrons with the existence of an ancient civilization of people who surpassed the current ones in growth, strength and capabilities (the theory of Hyperborea).
Still others believe that it was here that the Soviet nuclear station was based. Now these structures have been mothballed.
All theories agree that radiation is increased in the Yelyuyu Cherkecheh area, and therefore people who have been here even for a short time begin to get sick.
