Astral, parallel and alternative worlds, other dimensions - recently these concepts have moved from the pages of science fiction novels, so to speak, into everyday life. Do such worlds really exist or is it just a beautiful fairy tale? And if they exist, is it possible to penetrate into them?
Sergei Kovalev (name and surname changed. - Ed.) Is a thirty-five-year-old engineer. Absolutely healthy mentally - so, at least, all the psychiatrists to whom he turned to say. With physical health, too, everything is fine - "black belt" in karate and ken-do (sword fencing). Nevertheless, ten years ago Sergei was seriously scared …
“The first time I started having strange dreams was when I was fourteen,” he says, “but then it didn't last long, about two weeks, I just didn't have time to get scared. I just marveled at the brightness and interesting plot. And ten years ago "suffered a strong and long-term - almost three months - stress. Then it all began. Dreams went one more interesting than the other. They were distinguished from ordinary dreams by brightness, coherence and absolute logical completeness. Besides, I remembered them perfectly - so, as you remember yesterday. And in every dream I was, as they say, "my own" - I knew all the customs of the place I got into, as if I was born and lived there. And so almost every night. I was not fond of science fiction and parapsychology, therefore decided - schizophrenia … I went to the doctor: “absolutely healthy!” Well, he would be alone - at different times I turned to six different psychiatrists. The diagnosis is the same, very flattering for me, however, alas, it explains nothing. Honestly, they would say that I have some kind of sluggish schizophrenia, and that would feel easier …
To paraphrase the well-known definition, parallel worlds are an objective reality given to some of us in sensations. So. believes Mikhail Averintsev, a hypnotist, psychic, or, as he calls himself, a conductor.
“These worlds,” he says, “are by no means invented. In general, can this be invented? There is a hypothesis (quite, by the way, corresponding to the theory of Academician Vernadsky about a unified information field) that everything invented by a person anywhere and ever existed or exists now. That is, it is impossible to come up with, you can read - often unconsciously - some scraps of information.
This may explain the emergence in recent decades of a huge number of writers working in the fantasy genre. No one is surprised when a writer foresees various scientific discoveries, so why do we consider a very reliable and logically coherent description of another world, often with the religion, philosophy, etc., accepted there as strange? Moreover, the number of people susceptible to astral fields has sharply increased recently.
Over time, Sergei got used to it, especially since the strange "nightlife" did not bother him in general, and a year later he liked it at all. Although visits to the "parallel world" have become less frequent - two or three times a month.
“Now I already know for sure,” he says, “that it always brings me into the same three worlds. In the first two - constantly, in the third - once or twice a year. The first world is about our time: there are cars, helicopters, electricity, however, equipment, cars and weapons are clearly not ours. The climate is similar to that of South Siberia. The second world is different: no firearms, spears, swords, bows, horses … The landscape is a hilly forest-steppe. The third world cannot be described in words - everything is strange there … When I got used to it, I began to notice different little things: emblems, flags, coats of arms. So - there is no culture known on the Earth and has never had anything like it. And most importantly - the sky there is "not ours"! Although I'm not very good at astronomy, I know the main constellations at the very least.

According to M. Averintsev, there are an infinite number of parallel (or astral) worlds, of which a little more than a hundred are most accessible to humans.
- In my opinion, the picture of the universe is described quite fully by Roger Zelazny in The Chronicles of Amber. For those who have not read, I will briefly explain: there is Amber, order, and Chaos. These are two extremes - yin and yang, heaven and hell, black and white. Between them are many worlds, including ours. Zelazny called these worlds very accurately reflections. Are transitions from one world to another, travel through reflections possible? Undoubtedly! This is exactly what we see in the case of Sergei Kovalev. The case, by the way, is rather ambiguous, I will explain why later.
I'll start from afar. In general, sleep - I mean the actual dream - is of three types: first - the overexcited brain cannot shut down and continues to generate displays of real events of the day, replaying certain situations in a new way; the second - in full accordance with Freud's theory - a reflection of passions, desires, phobias, in short, the work of the subconscious; the third - you will be surprised, but it occurs no less often than the first two - a passage to the reflection adjacent to ours. Remember - you probably had dreams in which you went to different places, met with some people, and in a dream you were sure that you were familiar with them. But this is an unconscious, accidental breakthrough. A conscious journey through the astral worlds is another matter …
Sergei turned not only to psychiatrists, but also to psychics. Oddly enough, none of them began to work with Sergei. One, however, moved his hands over him and shied as much: go, he says, I have enough problems without you … This is how he lives now during the day - an ordinary engineer, athlete, at night - a huntsman in one world, a warrior-wanderer in another. According to him, life “in a dream” is no different from life “in the daytime”, up to the reality of a scratch. Injuries, pain, everything he received in dreams remains with him after awakening …
“Recently, they almost finished off,” he grins, “about fifty flew in… I, of course, have a“black belt”and a sword in my hands, but I decided to wake up out of harm's way…
By the way, he can wake up at any time at will. And no matter how many hours (or days) he spent in his dream, the real time is no more than three hours …
- So that's why I consider the case with Kovalev controversial. It is usually quite easy for a prepared person to enter the trance (meditation) state necessary for the "journey through reflections". The trouble is that various home-grown "tourists", having picked up the tops in numerous courses or having read the relevant literature, leave, but return - alas … But "leaving" is almost clinical death with all the ensuing consequences.
Another danger is that a person, having been in reflections, does not withstand the mental load and goes crazy. Sometimes it turns into a kind of drug … With Kovalev, the opposite is true. He gets into these worlds by accident, perceives life there as his own, while at any time he can return "home". Only now "home"? One of two things - either he is a strong sensory guide, that is, a person capable of traveling through reflections (a gift akin to clairvoyance, telepathy, etc.), or he does not belong to our world … Rather, the second - this is what explains the refusal of psychics to work with him: the energy of the stranger is great "hits the hands" *..
In general, I want to warn readers: be afraid of walking on reflections! In rare travel-dreams, of course, there is nothing dangerous, but God forbid you to consciously try to cross the line separating one world from another. If dreams with similar plots recur often, then you undoubtedly need the help of a sensory guide. For parallel worlds are as real and material as our world is real and material.
