For centuries, people have been asking the question "what if?" What if in the past I would have acted differently, what if I would have done another business, what if I would have left for another city or, on the contrary, stayed where I was, what if I would have chosen a different relationship - this list can be continued indefinitely …

If we imagine our life as a road, then the alternative options are numerous paths at the forks where we did not turn. We never found out what awaited us there, we can only guess about it …

Nevertheless, the existence of an alternative reality - that is, the place where we go along these other roads, haunts philosophers, science fiction writers and scientists. This idea is so popular with people who are completely different in their views that you conclude that there is some truth in it.

In this article I will present my perspective on this fascinating question. I'll start with a very important point. In principle, everything that happens to us, has happened or could have happened is a record in the information field. This field is a kind of "catalog" of all possible events, some of which are realized and we consider them "real" and others are not (more about this in the article: "How we see reality").

That is, an alternative reality for each of us is events with his participation recorded in the information field, which for various reasons did not occur. Their number will be different for everyone, it depends on the options of the current fate "written" in the field (more about this in the article "Does fate exist?").

Almost all the time, we have a choice in our daily affairs and decisions, but in most cases the outcome of these actions is not important after a few days, if not hours. Then we drink tea or coffee in the morning is unlikely to affect our destiny. Therefore, the alternative reality in which we drink tea (while actually choosing coffee) will exist for a very short time and will soon "merge" with our main reality.

But there are more important alternatives than choosing a drink and breakfast, just such key decisions, or points on our way, can form a "weighty" alternative reality. When we are faced with an important choice - profession, place of residence, life partner, we cannot stop at all options at the same time, therefore those that we "cut off" just fall into the category of alternative reality.

At the time of choice, no one gives us a map indicating where each of the possible roads will lead. But if we had such a map, we could see that some of the alternative roads will sooner or later connect to the main one, and some will run further in an unknown direction.

The key question that people have about the roads they did not go is - is there a time and place where these options were still implemented? That is, a kind of parallel universe where we became what we gave up in this real life?

Looking ahead - yes, there is. And in parallel with it, there are still many of our modifications, where we have a different personality, or we even live on another planet.

Why does this happen? It's all about the work of our perception. Let's imagine the information field with all the events recorded there (with our participation) in the form of a huge canvas. A ray of light fell on this canvas and illuminated a small section of it - our current reality. Every second this ray shifts a little, we see a slightly changed picture in front of us.

The ray is our "everyday" consciousness. In the present, it can highlight only one point on the canvas, that is, experience only one version of reality.

But we must remember that our consciousness also has another - a higher part. She is no longer a ray, but a source of light. A center from which thousands of rays emerge simultaneously. At the level of this "light bulb", time and space no longer exist - everything happens simultaneously.

Our alternatives and lives are other rays from the same source. They illuminate the space where our current ray did not hit. Among them, probably, several "creep" parallel to ours, illuminating similar areas. In some small nearby ray we drink tea instead of coffee, and in a more "serious" ray we live in another city.

Where are these "alternative" options for us geographically located? It is difficult to name the geographic coordinates of this reality, but as a modification of our current one, it should be located somewhere nearby. That is, the world where the “neighboring” rays of a multitude of consciousnesses fall is the closest alternative reality to us.

In more distant rays we will already be a completely different person, we can live on another planet, in another time and dimension - this list can be continued for a very long time.

As a child, we all loved to play. As soon as the right moment came, we immediately took out our toys, and they instantly "came to life" for us - a whole wonderful world was born. The same happens with our higher consciousness - when one of its many "rays" falls on a certain area of options, magic happens.

We begin to live one of the lives available to us - we rejoice, grieve, philosophize and love, absorbing what is happening to us. Sooner or later this life ends, and the ray "runs" on - we are born again without memory of the past, but taking into account the baggage that we have accumulated.

And all this is logical and beautiful, only in parallel to us, behind and in front of us, an infinite number of our other rays are running, which embrace what is not available to us. Therefore, it is important to remember that our today's “I” is only one of a million possible, inextricably linked with others.
